Great advices, i really liked you mentioned the "find out why it works" part, ideally everyone should secure enough resources to be able to do that.

My advice is be ruthless with your project time estimates, if a client pushes a given timeline (which translates to a given sum) do not settle for anything less than double that, it is the only way to secure enough time resources for you to do things properly.

It is easy to fall in the trap of agreeing to overly optimistic timelines which inevitably get broken, do not give your customer the fleeting joy of a great initial time/money proposal, give him the solid joy of delivering greatness (with the bonus of finishing slightly faster than scheduled if you agreed on the double the optimistic timeline)

There are two issue with this, from the client's perspective you become expensive and slow, you have to make them understand this is the only path to quality.
