So, a contest to see who the best UK travel blogger was in 2013 refers to us as "holiday whores." I dunno about you, but I think that's sort of offensive...

Veteran travel writer Robert Reid thinks that some things belong in "Travel Jail" - including country counters:

"Travel shouldn’t be a race or a contest. It’s possible to spend a full travel life in just the USA and Mexico with no lost sense of wonder. It’s like Shakespeare and his pencil. He only had one. But look at what he did with it."

What do you think of his selections for those sentenced to Travel Jail? Who or what would you add to the list?

The predicted trends include that Google+ will grow, visuals trump everything else, & Foursquare is "finished." What do you think of these predictions?

The Future of Travel Media
Introduction

The Travel Blog Exchange (TBEX) conference has grown from its inception in 2009 into the conference for bloggers, writers and new media content creators in the travel and lifestyle sphere today.

TBEX also attracts some of the world’s best-known brands and tourism bureaus as sponsors who are eager to connect with travel bloggers, podcasters, and web writers. American Express, TripAdvisor, Vail Resorts, Expedia, Hyatt and HomeAway support the conferences alongside tourism offices such as those of Canada, Australia, Croatia, Dominican Republic, Denver, Virginia, British Columbia, and worldwide resorts and hospitality companies.

TBEX’s goal is to mobilize and assist bloggers with promoting, monetizing, improving their work and influence, as well as helping PR and Industry professionals to connect with the right content creators to benefit their brands and destinations.
