ST. PATRICK'S DAY CELEBRATION AT Capital...We celebrated St. Patrick’s Day filled with games and treats for residents and staff. Residents started their morning with a green surprise for breakfast with biscuits and green gravy. Many residents expressed how fun the surprise was as soon as we walked in the door. During the day a secret team of staff members hid clovers around the building for staff and residents to find. If they found a clover they received a home made scratcher to try and win a green prize. Residents enjoyed corned beef and cabbage for lunch (it was delicious), and everyone enjoyed shamrock shakes in the afternoon.

Many smiles were shared at Capital this St. Patrick’s Day.

VALENTINE'S DAY CELEBRATION...Capital celebrated Valentine’s Day by decorating sugar cookies and enjoying a candlelight dinner. The residents really enjoyed decorating their cookies with frosting and sprinkles. Many saved them to share with family visiting later in the day. Valentine’s Evening the residents enjoyed BBQ ribs, potato salad, baked beans and lemon pie. Many were asking for seconds. They really enjoyed being able to sit with each other and socialize like they would at a restaurant. Many smiling faces and lots of love.

The holidays can be lots of fun for older adults too even if they’re not in the best physical or mental shape. Here are some great ways to include your senior loved ones and bring some holiday joy into their lives and yours.
1) Play a game of cards or a board game
2) Bake some cookies together
3) Bring the grandkids around for a visit

TAKE A LOOK AT SOME PHOTOS FROM OUR CHRISTMAS PARTY
The staff wore holiday sweaters and helped serve custom made mac and cheese. Residents enjoyed opening presents and were surprised when Santa dropped by to deliver chocolate. To end the day we had carolers from a local elementary sing to us. Many smiles at Capital last week. Wishing you and everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
