The kitchen has a little bit of room for improvement on the execution of some of their dishes, but I still give them five stars, it's that good, and with reasonable prices. Their squid and octopus appetizers are wonderful, very fresh and well prepared. Good pizzas, and some harder to find things like walnut cream pasta.

Warm, upscale ambiance, a good jazz trio was there when I eat which was nice to have. Food was quite tasty and most dishes are between $15 and $25. Service was excellent.

Rose is a nice Italian restaurant in the heart of North Beach. Only a block away from Washington Square on Columbus, they location is great. The interior is spacious and well decorated and there are a number of tables on the sidewalk outside. The food was well prepared and most of the pasta is made in-house which I liked a lot. I had the nudi pasta with braised chicken which was good. Nice wine list as well and full bar. Overall a bit pricey but good food and a nice ambiance made it a enjoyable experience.

We had dinner there and ate the chicken from the Menu. Food was very good as well as the service. The atmosphere is nice and quiet. We would probably go again.

I never know what I'm going to get when I am in North Beach. Reservations are easy to book online though their website. We got window seats facing Columbus street. They also have tables outside with overhead heaters, it was just a bit too windy to sit outside the evening we went. They serve some really light focaccia to start. They don't offer olive oil and balsamic vinegar, you have to ask for this. I got the grill terrorized ribeye steak cooked medium rare., served with grilled asparagus and Argula salad. You could taste the grill favor which I really liked. The Alaska halibut was very good, it had asparagus and peas in a light broth. The brick chicken was flavorful and moist. I also got a side of polenta, but considering how much food you got, we were way too full to finish it. For dessert we got the apple upside cake served with vanilla ice cream. I think that was the most interesting dessert item on the menu and I'm glad we tried it. Next time strawberry tiramisu.

OK, so I used to travel 100K miles/year for business, and have dined all over the world. Additionally, like many people, I have worked in a restaurant, so courtesy to the wait staff, etc matters to me. Our concierge recommended this restaurant, as I had requested Homemade Pasta (should have stuck with The North Beach around the corner, or Mona Lisa). The music inside was really loud, so we sat outside-which was nice. However, it took a while for the waiter to greet us. He was just fine at first, but after taking our order and delivering our drinks (beer for him, wine for me) we never saw him again. Staffers brought my salad and his appetizer-but the order was wrong. Waiter NEVER checked on we watched him socialize with the waitress through the my wine glass was the rest of our order didn't arrive. He finally came out, and he looked at my bf (who had 3/4 of a beer in front of him) if he would like another wine. Seriously? Am I not here? So we laughed it off and I ordered another glass of wine, and asked when the rest of our order would be coming...the side of brussel sprouts and brushetta had not arrived. He said "it will come" with a tone to his voice. Then I said "OK, and just to let you know, I'm not sure if it was the kitchen or what but his order was wrong" That's when he looked at us and said "See ya!" and walked off!!!!! Seriously? We were not rude in any way, and had already had such a bad dining experience, but to act as if we were being rude was upsetting. The bruschetta and brussel sprouts did arrive (and they were good), but no one checked on us and honestly his behavior put a damper on our evening. We discussed that we would not be tipping (we usually tip 20%+) but thought the manager should know WHY we weren't tipping-we weren't comfortable not leaving a we talked to the manager. He was nice, but let us know that the waiter decided that he should not wait on our if we had been rude or something. This added insult to injury. Eventually he offered to comp our meal. My bf made it clear that we were not looking for a free meal, we were looking for a nice evening for our romantic weekend...... The manager went on to explain that this waiter was one of his senior guys. I have no clue what this waiter told him, but I honestly care about how I treat people, and we were in no way rude or impolite. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone as long as this waiter is there.

One of my favorite Italian restaurants in SF. The menu is constantly changing and the chefs use seasonal ingredients. The pasta is always cooked perfectly. The service is exceptional, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. If it is a beautiful day be sure to sit outside and enjoy the people watching.
