Went for dinner with family before a show with a reservation. Place was beautiful on the inside but VERY cramped. It was so tight I had my chair kicked by passerby's at least 50-60 times during the night, and had to get up at least 3x to let people pass (i'm not a big guy that takes up a ton of room, the tables were just THAT close together). We were a party of 4 and started with hot chocolates in the special "hug" mugs. My wife couldn't get off that they looked like toilets. The "hot" chocolate was not hot at all, not even lukewarm, it's temperature was if it sat on the counter for a half hour, and was cold. 3 out of 4 of us all ordered the exact same thing, a cheese steak waffle, and my wife ordered a panini without the special seasoning for her fries(sensitive to chili powder). After about 15 minutes, an expediter(manager?) brought us 3 of the wrong item and we sent it back, the order was wrong. After almost 30 minutes (had been there almost an hour before we got our food), we received the correct food. Everyone's food was ice cold, but we were so hungry we ate it anyway. I expected a decent sized belgian waffle (as the menu says), but got a waffle the size of a freezer eggo waffle folded in half full of what tasted like minute steak/steak ums. The waffle was soggy, cold, wet, and falling apart, as was everyone elses at my table. My wife's panini was cold and soggy as well, and her fries had the seasoning on it. Each plate came with your main course, a sliver of a pickle, and a small glass of 3 large waffle fries. Yes, you read that correctly, THREE waffle fries. For $15.00? Really? I'm not expecting heaping portions, but the food quality and quantity was very low for the price. The dish I had I would have been satisfied paying $8-10 for, not $15.00. When a manager came to our table to check on us, my wife told her how gross the food was, and that she was so hungry she ate it (wasn't asking for anything for free), but expressed her concern. Our server made up for their issue about the wait for food by offering a complimentary dessert, which we appreciated, but again, didn't ask for, so it made our experience a little better. We ordered 2 crepe dishes, a tiramisu and a sundae of some sort. The desserts were good, not spectacular. I ordered a banana hazelnut crepe that was $13.59 that I can get a better/large portion at a local bakery for $8.99. Overall, the service was decent but slow (not our servers fault), the food was low quality and the desserts were good, not great. I have no problem spending money on great food, but I didn't feel that Max Brenners philly was worth the money and will not be returning.

We called to make a reservation. They said they didn't take reservations. No need, it's a Tuesday. When we got there, they asked if we had a reservation. We told them we tried to make one but then they said they don't take same day reservations. The snotty hostess then told us we'd have to wait 15 minutes for a table. We waited 20 and that's about how long it took to get a drink at the bar. Now she comes back again and says it will be another 20 minutes because they don't have bus boys on Tuesdays. There's a table two feet from us that's empty but isn't bused. We say," Can we sit here?" She says the waiter has to bus it first. Then the next table empties and that too has plates and drinks all over but it's not being cleaned. Now we've been there for 50 minutes and we ask another waiter if we can move to his section to which he replies, "You have to ask the hostess." Very poor customer one cares...We decide to leave and I ask for the bill. In about 10 minutes she gives me the wrong bill. I tell her and 5 minutes later she gives me the write bill. I put my credit card in the box (that's how they do it) and she takes it. Brings it back 5 minutes later but without a credit card slip to sign. Are you getting the gist? This place is terrible...we finally left. We went to Park at Rittenhouse Square. Spent $279 for the four of us and were thrilled......

This place is definitely one of those over hyped places. I've come for Sips before and it's a cool place to get a $5 chocolate martini. Obvi that drink is probably 500 calories with half a shot of alcohol, but nonetheless fun. I came for dessert on Friday around 7pm and it was packed as expected. Opted to sit at the bar so no wait. Bartender who served us was friendly. Decided to split the half size chocolate pizza with nutella, bananas and marshmallows. The half size is HUGE. We split it, and still had tons leftover. Twas $9.50. With any dessert, you basically have a bite to cleanse your palette and are dunzo. Such was the case here. I thought the crust was wayy too thick. Woulda have been infinitely better with a thin crust. It was sweet, filling, rich, and all that. Would I have preferred just going to get froyo somewhere? Ya prob just cause I'm not into super rich things like that. If someone asked me on a date to get fondue would I say no? Prob not.

Terrible customer service(without a doubt a reflection of the management) and all our food/drinks were ice cold. The hostess sat a couple down on top of broken glass that had already been on the ground for 20 minutes and continued to be on the ground for another 20. Also, we had a reservation but had to wait 30 minutes to sit down.

Pretty tasty & unique desserts....... don't get the Lava cake thing it's desert dry :-( . The waiters won't clear your table unless tell them to do so repeatedly.... & even then they all have this crazy, bewildered look on their faces......the bistro style tables are already tiny....and you'll order multiple dirty dishes should be removed promptly from your table or things will get congested and annoying. YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO FLAG DOWN WAITERS TO DO SOMETHING SO BASIC...... Everything is pricey/overpriced......yes I would come back or look for a better dessert spot to replace this one.

I came here for the first (and last) time last night for dessert with my boyfriend. The place is so small and crowded that we were practically on top of the people next to us. We ordered the fondue for two which came with two different chocolates and caramel (?), I think, because our waitress just threw it down on the table and walked away. I didn't taste it. They gave us strawberries, bananas, store-bought marshmallows, and extremely bland brownies and cookies. The table was so small and rocky that there was barely enough space for everything. We ate the fruit and marshmallows (about three of each was provided) and then the waitress just came and put down our check. Never checked in to see if we needed anything, how it was, or if we wanted anything else. Just put down the check. Not only was the service terrible and the place too crowded and uncomfortable, the dessert wasn't even good (especially not for $25). The receipt had tip amounts for each percentage (18, 20, 22) and we had to just laugh. We had finished dinner earlier in the night at Misconduct Tavern around the corner and left a 25-30% tip because our waitress there was extremely nice and helpful. At this place, we left around 11%, and even that felt like too much. Everything about Max Brenner's was terrible and over-hyped. I would not recommend Max Brenner's at all.
