Ok, the food seems to be pretty good but it's not perfect. We've ordered from DF several times and have generally been satisfied. However, I'm prompted to write a comment this evening after our latest experience. We order our usual fare but added the Orange Peel Steak and, it was lousy and, cost 16 bucks as well. The 'meat' was not tender but rather tough and the accompanying broccoli florets were chewy and and basically inedible. All to say, we were not happy so, I called the restaurant to inform them of how I felt and here's the real reason for this comment. When I spoke to the receptionist and told her of my dissatisfaction, I was met with a silence as if she was not interested in seeing what could be done to make my experience a satisfying one. I wasn't necessarily looking for my money back [although I imagine that if I demanded so, she would have had to acquiesce ] but rather some kind of effort to either credit the card or offer a future entree on the house. Instead, she claimed that the mgr was in a meeting and requested my name and number for a call back, as of which, I have not received. Again, it's not the money per se but rather the apparent hesitancy in not immediately seeking to rectify my complaint. In almost all other occasions where we have issues with takeout orders or even in-house dining, the wait staff and mgmt go out of their way to ensure a positive experience and correct all issues, yet in this case, at Dragonfly, there appeared to be no concern or interest in doing so. As of now, I'm disappointed in this most recent DF patronage. And while the other fare on the menu seems to be pretty good, I would not recommend the Orange Peel Steak [mystery meat!!]

If you're looking for a good lunch option on Restaurant Row, the Dragonfly Mandarin offers a $9 special that includes an appetizer, soup and entree. They serve tasty, traditional Chinese food in a well decorated and contemporary environment. Also, the restaurant has a large outdoor patio and offers unique cocktails with a Mandarin twist which makes it a great spot to swing by in the summer.

This place is completely worth the price! We went with a Groupon which included 2 cocktails, a teaser plate, a maki roll, an appetizer and a main meal. We did end up getting more cocktails because of how delish it was. Our server was also incredibly patient. We were so overwhelmed by the choices that we took a long time picking what we wanted for each dish. But he made some great suggestions and let us wait until we finished each plate before ordering our next. The atmosphere was also really romantic. On the darker side-think modern chic new york restraunt!

This place is GREAT! ignore the haters. Here are the facts: Pros: The food is as authentic as your going to get in Chicago. I can say this as I’m married to a Chinese native whose father is a sui-chef in Shanghai. Literally the best authentic Chinese in Chicago. The staff is friendly and will to recommend their favorites but they are busy so cut them some slack. It’s got the atmosphere of a classic small Chinese bistro right out of Shanghai. Cons: If you’re expecting deep fried sweet and sour non-authentic Chinese take out. Go somewhere else. They don't make crap. If you’re expecting the staff to cater to you like the spoiled American jerk you are. Go somewhere else. If your expecting a your idea of a cliché Asian restaurant, you can always find it elsewhere. Bottom line: Best real Chinese in Chicago. Prices are cheap but you'd better get their early as it’s going to be packed.

I've eaten here a couple of times with co-workers though only in early Spring and now late Fall. While I haven't been here when it's nice out yet they have a pretty decent looking patio area which looks to be a great hangout with friends. For the budget minded I'd suggest lunch here over dinner a they have a $9 special with an app, soup, and meal all at decent sizes. The food isn't the best in the city but that being said it's still really good. It's got all of your standard food options with two stand outs. The Mongolian beef is decent though could due to be slightly spicier though the standouts? The dreaming roast duck and duck fried rice I could live off of!

Haven't eaten here yet but when the club part gets started its fantastic, very professional and organized with kind professional black men working the doors. I loved this way more compared to Secrets in Dolton, IL now called dejavu. It's mostly hip hop, rap n R&B played, I know on Saturdays.
