#pilates   #fun   #exercise   #fitness   #injury
What pops into your head when I say the word ‘Pilates’?

Is it a bunch of glamorous looking mid-twenties to mid-forties looking women with their yoga mats and trendy exercise clothes coming into a studio for a gentle group exercise and stretch class followed by some expensive coffee and a hair appointment?

If that’s what you’re imaging, you couldn't be further from the truth! I understand that’s what a lot of people portray in movies and television shows, but the truth to Pilates is a lot more diverse than that.

Pilates is used for many reasons – there’s the whole exercise and being healthy reason, the rehabilitation from an injury reason, the ‘it’s fun’ reason, the strengthening reason and so, so, so many more.

If you’re interested in the ‘rehabilitation from an injury reason’ it’s best to speak with your physiotherapist first. Most of our physios here at POB are qualified Pilates trainers, so will know what’s best for you and even how to get you to your goals with Pilates.

If you just want to have some fun or get fitter, Pilates is a great choice. Here at POB, we do do mat work, but we are not limited to it. Instead we also have a few interesting Pilates machines – introducing ‘The Wunda Chair’,  ‘The Pilates Reformer’ (often seen on infomercials)
and ‘The Cadillac’ (aka ‘The Trapeze’).

Now I now they look a bit like torture instruments, especially the Cadillac/Trapeze, but trust me when I say these things will make you fit and strong – and in the most fun and creative way possible!

If you are interested in giving Pilates a go, or just have a few questions, give us a ring or send us an email (all information is on our Contact Us page on our website www.physioonbrunswick.com.au) – we’ll be more than happy to help out.

#pregnancy   #recovery   #SRC   #women   #compressionwear
As you walk in to Physio on Brunswick you might have noticed the SRC Pregnancy and Recovery Shorts and Leggings on display as well as the countless brochures about them. So what are they and why do we believe so much in them?

SRC shorts and leggings are compression garments that help support your body during pregnancy and get your pre-baby body back super quick. They help alleviate back pain as well as supporting your pelvis, increase pelvic muscle function and can even help with mild varicose veins.

How? Well, their shorts and leggings are made with 3 layers of lightweight, breathable fabric which are all angled differently. This gives compression from all directions which gets rid of any extra fluid you may have, it also means that all the different muscles of the pelvis are activated.

SRC also have an active range for all your post-baby workouts and shorts for after pelvic surgery, known as Surgiheal shorts. Surgiheal have sizes for male and female and help your recovery process after surgery by reducing pain, increasing stability and mobility as well as helping you heal faster.

If you have any questions, feel free to come in and ask any one of our staff. We can also all measure you for a pair of shorts or leggings, as well as order in the active range or surgery shorts.

Check them out at http://www.recoveryshorts.com/
