I was watching The Crown and there was an episode about the poisonous fog. That wasn't the only year it happened either, but got much better after limiting the amount of coal London was burning... I don't want to go back to that time.
"...beautiful, clean coal..." doesn't exist Remember the poisonous fog event in London in 1952?

The last time I went to the L.A. Zoo, I was devastated by the tiny tiger enclosure. It made me so sad. This elephant named Billy should be moved to a sanctuary to allow him to live out his life. Come on! I stand with Billy!
Environmental Issues & Impact News!

Two City Council members renew push to remove Billy the elephant from L.A. Zoo

"The physical and emotional well-being of Billy, an Asian elephant kept at the Los Angeles Zoo for nearly three decades, is again being debated at City Hall.
Two members of the Los Angeles City Council want Billy moved to an animal sanctuary,"

More devastating news in our area. 15 lost lives have been accounted for so far due to mudslides in Montecito. Thankful for the 2 year old and 14 year old that have been rescued!

Fires Rage across Southland The fire in Ventura County is so bad. So many have lost homes. We have been spared, but with winds picking up tonight it is pretty scary.

I love science and fish! Look how large the eye is to absorb light down deep.
Twilight trick: A new type of cell has been found in the eye of a deep-sea fish. http://ow.ly/yRlH30gxWEQ

I have family and friends in New Braunsfel, Texas, where the shooter lived. It pays to be aware, and report any suspicious activity or behavior. Also, Psalms 91:1 can be your 911 in times of trouble. : )
We are sending out our love to Texas church families today, and those affected by the shooting at a church in Southern Texas. Please join us in prayer.

This is my salad for today! We have a pomegranate tree in the backyard, which is perfect for fall recipes.
When was the last time you had a farmer's market salad? This one has fresh organic greens, quinoa, pomegranate seeds, walnuts and goat cheese. Pretty tasty and good for the #environment!

It was my dream to visit Olympic National Park since I started studying environmental science in my early 20's. I finally made it to this remote area, nearly 30 years later! It is the only temperate rain forest in the United States--in Northern Washington on the Pacific Coast.

The diversity is astounding--wild oceanic coastline with driftwood, massive glaciers and mountains, two rainforests--one with dripping moss and ferns, and the drier old-growth forest. It has three distinct ecosystems which are sub-alpine forest/wildflower meadow, temperate forest, and the rugged Pacific Shore.

Here's a weird one. Sea lampreys in the Great Lakes?
In the Great Lakes, sea lamprey are an invasive species that preys on native fish, often causing wounds that become fatal due to infection or blood loss. We work to control sea lamprey populations to protect native fish!
