#July is a month to celebrate with family and friends!

Some of the best summer celebrations involve barbecues or cookouts. Click below for a few safety tips for your next get together.

1. Whether you use a charcoal or gas barbecue always make sure to follow proper safety precautions when lighting, cooking, and storing the barbecue.  Follow factory guidelines when using lighter fluid or propane tanks, clean your grill regularly to prevent grease fires, and store your grill away from anything that is flammable or hazardous.
2. You should know the proper cooking temperatures and preparation for the food you are serving at your get together (especially meat). The last thing you want to do is make your friends or family sick.
3. Make sure to have plenty of drinking water on hand so your guests can stay well hydrated.
4. Provide shade or a covered area where your guests can get out of the sun and cool off.
5. If you will be serving alcoholic beverages at your get together, please enjoy responsibly and make sure your guests do so as well.
6. If you will be lighting off #fireworks at your get together make sure you use extreme caution when handling, lighting, and disposing of the fireworks.  Keep water or a fire extinguisher nearby, never point the fireworks toward anyone else, and always stand a safe distance from the devices.  Make sure you know local laws and regulations regarding pyrotechnics and fireworks.

Spring is here and summer is near. That means amazing weather, bbq’s and a new opportunity to grow some flowers or vegetables. You do not need a huge garden to achieve this. In fact window gardening is becoming very popular for apartment renters. Here are some tips and tricks to get you off on the right foot with window gardening this spring.

- Select plants that will grow well in your environment. Take into account average temperature and how much sunlight your window gets. Some ideas to get you started include basil, peppers and green onions.
- Add high quality potting mix to your pots.
- Sow your seeds about ½ an inch apart.
- Water your plants based on their needs. Some plants need more water than others.

Please comment below with a list of what you are growing on your window sill this spring!

Summer is here!

Click below for tips to help you have a happy and healthy summer!

1. Do you want to save energy, money, and keep your home cool this summer? Remember to keep windows and blinds closed during the hotter hours of the day, turn off any unnecessary lights or appliances when not in use, and use ceiling or window fans at night to cool your home

2. During summer we all like to open up windows and let the fresh air flow through our homes. Unfortunately, many people forget you should always close and lock your windows when leaving home whether it is just for the day or for a long summer vacation.

3. There is nothing worse than getting into your car when it has been sitting in the sun all day. Park your car in a shaded or covered parking spot. Over time this can also help save the paint job and interior of your car.

4 Get outdoors to enjoy your favorite sport or hobby, stay hydrated, and regularly apply sunscreen. These simple things can go a long way to keeping you happy and healthy this summer

1) Create a routine sleep schedule. 8 hours of routine sleep goes a long way.
2) Keep active. Do something to keep fit each day!
3) Eat well; Many diseases can be prevented  or controlled with a healthy diet.
4) Maintain a healthy and consistent body weight.
5) Read something everyday. Expanded knowledge will stimulate your mind.
6) Stay up-to-date on immunizations and other health screenings.

Start off the year right by moving into a new home with us! We want to encourage our community to be good neighbors to each other. Here are a few ideas to help you stay on your neighbor’s good side. Let’s make 2014 the best year possible.

1. Be friendly and approachable. Smile and say hello to your neighbors in passing.
2. Good neighbors are quiet and considerate when it comes to noise. Everyone appreciates seeing, and not hearing their neighbors!
*3. Respect the building and keep common areas clean for everyone to enjoy.
4. Offer assistance to neighbors (especially the elderly) if you can. Opening a door or carrying in a bag of groceries can be a huge help.
5. If any issues ever do come up between you and a neighbor be sure to handle the situation maturely. It will be easier to resolve conflicts if you get to know your neighbors beforehand.

Feel free to leave a comment and share more ideas on how to be a good neighbor!

I have lived at the Moorings for almost three years and have never been more impressed with the staff, management team, grounds, maintenance team and facilities. The office staff is quick to handle any problem in a prompt and efficient manner. The actual apartments and facilities are well kept and maintained by a friendly maintenance crew. I have never had a problem with anyone or anything at The Moorings and would highly recommend these apartments to anyone.

I have lived at the moorings for little over a year . I love the community but management is the worst that I have ever seen . I have maagement giving out personal information to people off of the street , phone number social security number address . It is a total breach of privacy , and under the law is a crime. Also , I have had workers , just walk into my house , didn't knock , didn't have a work order , just walk into my house with me in it and start looking around . I must say if it wasn't for the management , this community would be a plus , but as far as it is not worth it .

First of all I love this community and staff. This is the best place that I have ever lived. When I was shopping for apartments this was the only one that felt like home right when I walked in. They were able to accomodate my need to move in immediatly and were very helpful. I moved to The Moorings in March of 2008 and haven't even thought about leaving. They have functions in the club house to introduce you to your neighbors and everyone at the pool is very friendly. When I first moved in I asked the office girls if I lived in a adult only community because it is so quiet! I would say that there are a range of individuals living here... Young professionals and retired adults. If you ask me, that's perfect! There is a gate at the front of the complex... it is usually not working but I have always heard entrance gates only keep honest people honest. If a criminal wants in... they will find a way. Speaking of crime, there is none at the Moorings. I feel safe walking around the complex at all hours of the day/night. Last but not least, the office staff will do anything they can to make sure you have a positive experience here. THANK YOU MOORINGS FOR BEING AWESOME!
