Price was moderate. Sushi was lacking quality. It was the least tasty sushi my wife and I have eaten in several years. In addition to taste, we were given a skimpy amount of ginger and charged extra for more when we ran out. Salmon in salmon roll was farm raised. I would not go back. Paul

We've eaten a lot of sushi all over the US, and this was a great find. The hamachi and saba (yellow tail and mackerel) were melt in your mouth fresh and delicious. Everything we ordered from the bar was made with care and presented beautifully. Really good sushi. And they don't bury their roles in yuck mayonnaise. We stuffed ourselves for about $90 for two, including sake and beer, much less than we expected, especially for Hawaii. Twice as good and less the cost than the favorites in Sacramento area. We're recommending this place to all our vacation rental guests who come to Kona. Two thumbs up.

We are from NY and this is the best sushi I have had in a really long time!!! So incredibly fresh! The unfiltered sake was supreme! Highly recommend this place. Oh and the best part is that it costs only $4 per roll.

Awesome sushi place. Very authentic. It seems that this place is run by real Japanese. I ordered the fish bowl and eel bowl, forgot the real names but they are all wonderfully made. The chef was friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back if I am on the island again.

We got here on a busy saturday night. They got us on the list right away. We were able to walk around downtown Kona while we waited. When we got in we were able to sit outside, it was perfect! The wait staff was great and the food was AMAZING!!!!!

Excellent quality and quick service. We sat at the sushi bar. We had several orders of sashimi, nigiri, and maki. I was pleased by the quality of hamachi and toro, and the "spider roll" soft-shelled crab maki was quite delicious. The only drawback is that It is a tad bit expensive, but that is to be expected given its location in the Alii Highway tourist area of Kona. My friend who lives in Kamuela says that Shiono is probably the best Japanese restaurant on the Big Island.
