So I am watching Eureka on Netflix and my 17 year old and 7 year old walk into the room. Colin Ferguson (sherif Jack Carter) is talking. The 17 year old turns to the tv and says, "Who is that?" I answer,  "Colin Ferguson" 17 year old, "Where do I know him from?" Me "Eureka" Him, "Well yeah but where else?" Me, "Coupling, the Guild?" Him, "No, somewhere else?" The 7 year old with out looking up, "Table top, with +Wil Wheaton when +Anne Wheaton hit the table and spilled all the trains..." 17 year old, "Yeah that's it Ticket to Ride"

I'd really like to get your take on my article below as my players debated this at some length after I shared an old Dragon editorial with them.

Small excerpt below

The "Chivalrous Knights" we all hold so high. Taken within their own society, they were noble and "good". But historical fact is they were unemployed soldiers of the constant feudal wars of the time. They hired on with the first noble who could afford them and then went about raping, pillaging, burning, beating, and killing all the local peasants in order to force those peasants to swear allegiance to their employer. In today's society, we would call this extortion and terrorism. This behavior continued from the decline of the roman empire's influence until the late middle ages when the pope forced the Rule of the Saints on them. This limited the violence to more or less warrior to warrior combat. But even the pope recognized that without a focus for these knights, not even the church could control the violence. So, the Crusades where began. I doubt the peasants at the end of their sword would call them good. It brings to mind a quote from William Shakespeare. "There is nothing good or bad but thinking makes it so."
