Marketers need to shift from crafting messages to creating experiences and that’s a tall order. It means that we need to leave behind how we’ve come to think about traditional campaigns and adopt a different approach to brand publishing

If we can stop ourselves from asking “Is the work good?” and instead focus on what we’re learning from it, then we can dramatically alter the reasons why we choose to be creative in the first place: not for the nods of approval or widespread understanding, but for our own personal breakthroughs.

Well, the quote from Pearl S. Buck is way off.  At least the author had the sense to quote Csikszentmihalyi.  However, he admits he is not creative himself in many publications and interviews, so he does not have the perspective of the confident creator - a creator at the mature level of experience with the faculty.

Clearly their new book just doesn't get it all - and it can't because we don't know enough about it yet.  But that won't stop fame starved writers grabbing for categorical headlines when they can't actually advance a meme that changes a domain.

My recommendation?  Wait for my book and you'll see why Csikszentmihalyi's work is 20 years outdated and needs reframing with contemporary science, psychology, psychology and philosophy.  Too bad the authors relied on it without full scope research.

There is a large and growing body of evidence that argues for the domain specificity of creativity. This has serious implications for creativity assessment, research, theory, and training.

Retreats are necessary for the creative mind to have uninterrupted time to wander, tinker, and ultimately move great ideas into action. But how do you keep from over-booking that creative time with too much ambition (the counter-mood to a retreat!) on one hand and a loose free-for-all in which little actually gets done on the other?

In today’s fast-paced, ever-changing world, there seem to be fewer opportunities to pause, consider, and fortify some of the basic prerequisites for developing children’s intelligence and creativity. What can parents do?

If your creative, imaginative child is not connecting with reading and writing letters and words at school, it is likely that the school’s approach is not playful and imaginative enough to hook your child at this age. There’s a lot you can do to help.
