I have two blind kids, you should see how much more they enjoy movies and plays when they get audio description. Sign the petition and help everyone enjoy life a little more.

Interesting read about Braille use. I think teaching it should be held at the same level as it is for sighted people.

Thanks to regulations Braille is spreading but do most blind people actually use the language of dots?

This stat scares the hell out of me. We try our damnedest to teach sighted kids to read, why are those same standards not applied to the visually impaired.

Just 10 percent of legally blind kindergartners through high school seniors are taught Braille nationwide today, Davis said, compared to upwards of 60 percent in the 1960s.

In the 1950s, more than half of America's blind used the reading system. But today, many consider Braille too difficult and too outdated.

It's an absolute shame if you ask me :(. The good news is that awareness of this problem is being spread all over the place thanks to Google+, Facebook and Twitter. Motivating people who are blind to do what it takes to learn Braille is the key instead of pushing audio on them all the time.
