i came to Austin couple months ago, i am a student on a tight budget from Eastern Europe so was looking for a nice and affordable (affordable meaning not very expensive) place to stay for couple of weeks and simply enjoy Austin. So i was asking around, and most people said to go for HI Austin. So i did, but when i got there it was so overcrowded, noisy, crazy loud, i didnt like it at all that i decided to try to find another place to stay. i was sure there had to be a place if i really looked. so i went online trying to find an alternative hostel in a peaceful neighbourhood with a character, and i found one!!!!yippiii!!! go to www.fairtradehostel.org and check it out!!! i definitely recommend to stay there than at HI Austin. Fair Trade Hostel is awesome, rates as low as $22 a night, but must call first to make a reservation; a place with its own soul - extraordinary, peaceful, colorful and cozy:) yummy pancakes and tortillas.. you can even rent a bike there and go for a relaxing bike ride and they also offer horseback riding:) some real nice stuff!!! because of all that i had the greatest time ever!! was totallllllyyyy worth it!!!!!
