I'm getting up to more coat making on the blog! I thing I definitely got over my issues, as I am completely in love with this oversized colour-blocked addition to my winter wardrobe. Plus it was 100% stash busted! What do you think?

Without a doubt, this autumn has been the season of coat making. They say that you can never escape that which you most fear and the coat curse has hit me with a vengeance. But no worries, it was all for the best. I do feel that two (albeit imperfect)…

More ideas on how to use our sewing skills for more sustainable living. this time I am tackling waste in the bathroom and what can we do to avoid it, while doing a lot of scrap busting at the same time.

Back in September, during Zero Waste Month, I wrote a post about how we can put our sewing skills to good use towards a more sustainable lifestyle. I had so many ideas for that post that I had to leave out a few for a follow-up and guess what, now's the…

Following up on my own advice from last week's post on failure, I am sharing a project I am not very happy with. I learned a lot, it's reasonably wearable, but I'm not fist pumping with joy because of it. But good styling might just about save it!

Last week I was telling you about my epic fail coat making attempt, that ended up as a cardigan and vest instead. I was also advising everyone to acknowledge their sewing fails and stop brushing the less than perfect garments under the carpet. Well, the…

I am continuing the Sunday Sewing conversations with a post on failures. What makes us feel like failures in relation to sewing? Is there anyway to address it? I would love to hear your thoughts! Hit reply or comment on the blog/FB.

In January, I had started a coat as part of a project for Simplicity Patterns. I was on a deadline, it was a collaboration post and I had never made a proper coat before. So there was a lot of pressure to produce something good. I was also using a fabric…

In my latest post I am talking all about denim. Curious how RTW jeans are made? What to know about its environmental impacts? All of this + exploring if sewing our own jeans could be better for the environment. Where do you stand on jeans making?

Making my own jeans was one of the most empowering sewing projects I ever completed. After vowing I would never make jeans because a) I don't wear jeans all that much and b) I have a few RTW pairs that fit me quite well, I finally succumbed a few years…

In honour of #slowfashionoctober, I am starting a nee series on my blog, where I style one me-made item in 3 looks for work, play and comfort. My pink culottes are the first ones to be featured. What's your favourite look?

Did you know that it's #slowfashionoctober? I could not miss out on the opportunity of dedicating the first post of this month to it and celebrating loving the things I already have, as part of my journey to a truly meaningful wardrobe.
To me, a…

In my latest blog post, I am talking about sewing related loneliness, be it in person or virtually online. I am also offering a few ideas on how we could address it. Would love your thoughts, so pls pop on the blog to leave a comment.

was listening to the latest episode of Love To Sew Podcast where Helen and Caroline talk about sewing struggles. They turned to the community to see what are the most common struggles and one of the first things that came up was loneliness. I spend many…

Ever considered starting a wear or wardrobe count? In my latest post, I am discussing why you should, how to do it and launching a new wardrobe project where I am recording everything I wear for a year.

I have to warn you from the beginning that this post comes packed-full of unbelievable geekiness, including Excel spreadsheets and charts. But, there is method to the madness, as I am exploring wear counts as a way of analysing my wardrobe and recording…

Can I squeeze one more summer make before we all move to coats, scarves and jumpers? Well, like it or not, here it is. A t-shirt maxi dress in Marimekko(-ish) fabric and how i styled it for early autumn now on the blog.

Can I squeeze one more summer make before we all move to coats, scarves and jumpers? Well, like it or not, here it is. I actually wore this dress yesterday, so clearly it's not doom and gloom just yet. (T-shirt ) Maxi dresses really do make me feel like…

This week is Zero-Waste Week so I'm rounding up a few ideas on the blog on how to use our sewing super powers to fight the Single-use plastic Big 4s and reduce the impact on the planet.

I don't know if I am living in an echo chamber, surrounded by people who think like me, but it's amazing how the tide seems to be turning against plastics and waste in general. I hope it's not news to any of my readers that I  feel very passionately about…
