Helpful DIY tips for blow-drying until your next visit to Hairventure
Don’t we all feel great after our hair has been professionally cut and blow dried? You are the same person that walked into the salon earlier, but you feel more attractive and more confident. But what to do a few days later, when you’re too busy to go back to your stylist? Can you do it by yourself? You can, at least, try – for sure you won’t become an expert the second you pick up your brush and blow dryer – it took time before your stylist gained his/her skills and experience. Keep reading and practice our little tips and tricks that will make your daily beauty efforts easier.
1. Your stylist uses quality products, so start from there – we use and recommend Kerastase and Phyto because experience has taught us these won’t weigh your hair down.
2. Use towel before blow dryer to avoid excessive heat and reduce damage.
3. Not every brush will do the job. If you watched our stylists, you saw carefully selected Olivia Garden brushes in their hands: a brush with bigger barrel for long hair and adding more volume; a brush with smaller barrel for shorter hair or for tighter curls. When you asked for straight, sleek look, we used a paddle brush…Or if you’re not sure what to buy, simply ask your stylists to select the right ones next time you visit Hairventure.
4. If you followed step 2 and towel dried your hair, move on and detangle your hair with wide tooth comb, and apply some (not too much!) styling product – make sure you have a product that will act as a protector as well. Set your dryer to medium heat and quickly dry the roots.
Ready for styling? Just remember it takes patience and practice, so do not give up if you don’t “replicate” your stylist’s artwork at once!
It’s time to split your hair into sections – make 3-4 at the back and 2 more sections at the sides, and use clips to keep them apart.
If you want a sleek look, take a section of your hair, put a paddle brush underneath and your blow dryer should be pointed downwards; start from the root – move the brush and dryer down your hair. Keep repeating this until your hair is dry. Do it again but with cold air do seal desired style.
When you want some waves, pick the right sized barrel, split your hair as above, and start at the bottom: wrap your hair around the brush; again, the blow dryer should be pointed downwards – pull the brush down along with your dryer, section by section. When your hair is dry, repeat it all over with cold air.
Finally, fix your style with a finishing spray. And do not forget – never point your dryer up, if you want to reduce frizz.
We hope our little tips will help you, and whenever you need extra confidence and some pampering, you can come over to Hairventure. We’re open even on Sundays and ready to provide the finest salon experience in Weston. #hairsalonweston #blowdry #hairstyling #hairstylist #haircare
