AAAAI meeting 2016 review continued. Being exposed to a more diverse microbiome can help decrease allergic tendency. By supplementing respiratory virus infected mice with dust or probiotics decreased their inflammatory response. We also see decreased allergy proteins in babies that have a pet at home. The microbiome can be affected by disease, drugs, foods, natural birth versus c-section, bottle/breast feeding, and pet exposure.

Last year a study came out called the LEAP study that suggested early introduction of peanut may help reduce the risk of peanut allergy in kids. Infants that have bad eczema and strong family history of allergy should be screened by an allergist before introduction of peanuts. http://ow.ly/Zdg6v
