11 MAY LETS NOT BE GRUMBLERS!

We heard a great mother’s day message at church yesterday by Pastor Eric about refraining from grumbling and as he says it “control our pie hole”!
“Do everything without grumbling or arguing so that you may become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.’  Then you will shine among them like the stars in the sky as you hold on to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ Jesus that I did not run or labor in vain.”

We heard how nobody wants to be around people that are always grumbling or whining about something. When we grumble we make the universe very small and ourselves very big.  We make too much of self. Why don’t we choose to be poured out like a drink offering instead? A sweet aroma to those around us?  Phil 2:17

How can we stop our grumbling?

We can suffocate grumbling by controlling the tongue! The Word says if we can control the tongue the body will follow!  Jam 3:2

And James 1:26 says “Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.”

How do we do this?

We ask the Holy Spirit to empower us and help us control our tongue, behavior , tone of voice etc!

” God works in us to will and act according to His purpose”  Phil 2:13

I’m preaching to myself!  Lord help me to be that sweet aroma to others around me- that means my family first!

"The LORD is with you, mighty warrior."
This is how God view Gideon while he was still hiding from the Midianites like every other Israelite. What was Gideon response? He did not believe in the statement, but rebattled with all sorts of doubts, first of all: “If God is with us then why has all this happened to us? The beauty of God seeing the FINISHED work in us should give us confidence to go forward despite the adverse odds or the obstacles. What is the overwhelming battle you are facing today? BELIEVE in what HE sees not in your limitations.

Around 539 B.C. Cyrus, king of Persia once had an audit with some of his prisoners. A prince and his family stood before the king; Cyrus asked him: “What would you give me if I let you go” the prince replied “I’d give you half of my kingdom”. Then King Cyrus asked: “What would you give me for your kid’s freedom” and he replied “I would give you the other half of the kingdom”. Once more the king asked: “What would you give me to free your wife?” and the prince said: “For my wife I would give you myself!”. Seeing this commitment Cyrus could not hold this family any longer and released them without any ransom. On their way back home the prince told his wife: “King Cyrus was a very handsome man. Did you notice?” The wife promptly replied: “Actually I did not pay any attention to him since my eyes were focused on the one that was willing to give his life for me!” What a beautiful story…one that should resonate very close to us as we look at the price our Lord indeed paid for our freedom. How can we be distracted by anything else?Cyrus.the_.Great_
