I'm in the camp that thinks it will take a while for empirical science to solve the problem of aging. Aging cures require the lifespan of the target species to test. Cryopreservation without damage is a more realistic near-term goal, because cooling an animal or patient only takes a matter of minutes -- the evidence -> new experiment -> evidence feedback cycle is much quicker.
