Interesting comments that Nigeria is conservative, quite right, but most have a socialist mindset... but then it is a country full of an strong entrepreneurial spirit...
An interesting mix. Makes you wonder the wonders the country can do if its governments AND people get their acts together.
However, I wonder if the dearth of Black coaches has something to do with not enough TOP black players (or even black players period) going into coaching and management. For example, from the Man U glory years, you find several players now coaching, Steve Bruce, Mark Hughes, Roy Keane and recently Ole Gunnar Solskjær. You have ex-Chelsea players now coaches: Gus Poyet now at Sunderland, Gianfranco Zola recently at Watson. Robbie DeMattieo of course coached Chelsea to win the Champions League.
So the question I ask is where is Ian Wright? Andy Cole? John Barnes? Marcel Desailly? Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink? (it seems he is coaching but not in England) Lucas Radebe? Who played with Dennis Wise at Leeds and Dennis is now in management. Even Sol Campbell himself? After all his teammate Tony Adams also tried his hands at coaching.
I wonder if there is a case to be made of not enough TOP black players taking up coaching roles which leads to a lack of candidates for the managers jobs. Is it because many kept on playing to make more money? case in point Thierry Henry, STILL playing for NY Red Bulls, while his then Gunners teammate, Frank de Boar is an up and coming Ajax coach. If Cardiff City today played a game against Red Bulls, Henry would be on the field, playing in a team coached by a manager he played against.
It seems possible if there should be more black coaches in the top flight and there certainly should be, there also need to be more candidates to choose from.
