Would this be possible to create on a lathe? Anyone tried? I might give it a go one day.

You can clearly see at some point in the video a circle at the back of one of the spheres. Presumably a plug of some kind. This could hide a hollow on the inside, with strong magnets used to hold the two spheres together. They don't actually rotate against each other, he's merely describing the rotational axes of the piece as a whole.
Still, very clever and funny!
If you wanted to do this on a lathe, you'd probably need a ball turning jig, otherwise the inaccuracies of manual turning get in the way of the proper precession movement.

I like Rembrandt and Van Gogh. Put one of those behind you. (Check my most recent video for inspiration)

But seriously, a curtain or a screen of sorts could hide all the clutter you put on your wall.
