If you ever have any doubts - or have trouble explaining to others - about gentle ways to help your baby learn to sleep well, this is the best article to help you out!

"What all parents need to know is that ‘cry it out' and all modified forms of it are based on early behaviourist beliefs that if you stop the crying, you stop the distress. But what we now know is that this is not at all close to the truth."

Learning to self-soothe to sleep without crying it out is absolutely possible.

For best results of course you will want to make sure of all the basics (a sleep and feed schedule that nicely suits your baby, optimal sleeping conditions, a good bedtime routine, etc.) and then you go step by step, gently progressing at a pace that makes your baby successful and he/she happily learns to settle and sleep independently.

With a bit of patience in the first week you can quickly make huge progress.

Let me know how you help your baby to self-soothe to sleep!
