Californians for Justice is hosting a Community Town hall Meeting
to discuss the push-out rate and discipline policies affecting students attending East Side Union high schools.
JULY 31st, 6-8 P.M.
Alum Rock United Methodist Church
30 Kirk Ave, San Jose CA 95127
In 2012, CFJ conducted a study of over 1500 East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) students which revealed that over 61% of them knew someone who had dropped out of school. These fundings were supported by a study released by the Burns Institute that documented the number of youth arrests in Santa Clara county, and four of the top five zip codes for youth arrests were in the East Side, with over 700 arrests taking place in just two East Side high school neighborhoods. This is a school and community problem that we'd like to solve!
That is why CFJ is inviting YOU to attend thisTown hall meeting to engage in this dialogue to identify solutions and learn about the work CFJ Youth are doing to close the school to prison pipeline.
Feel free to forward this email to all your networks or share with your contacts! RSVP to or for more information call our office 408-272-0236.

Asian Americans for Community Involvement is currently seeking volunteers to help to promote an event next week.

South Bay First Thursdays (SBFT) is a non-profit program stemming from AACI(Asian Americans for Community Involvement), an organization based in Santa Clara County. As volunteers of SBFT, we come together to organize events focused on Asian Pacific Islander (API) relevant issues, with the goal of engaging and mobilizing the community through open dialogues and other interactive platforms.

Our upcoming event, “Immigration Reform: Asian Pacific Islanders Matter Too” is on Thursday, March 7th at 7pm. It will be located at AACI (2400 Moorpark Ave, Suite 210, San Jose). The Asian American and Pacific Islander community is a key constituent in the immigration discussion. Please join South Bay First Thursdays as we engage in the national conversation on immigration reform and citizenship.
Also, feel free to forward this email to anyone who would be interested in attending, along with distributing the flyer through email, Facebook, or any other methods of communication. We would love for as many people as possible to attend this event and promote discussion of immigration and its effect on the API community.

To RSVP or for any questions, please email me at
