Renovated and reopened in 1993 as the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, you can still experience the grand hotel lobby as you enter the main doors, whereas the rest of the building is used as office and reception space, with 3 restaurants, a theater, and a branch of the Family History Library. Join us on the Deluxe Salt Lake City Tour or the Mormon Tabernacle Choir & Deluxe City Tour on Thursdays to take a guided tour of the grand lobby and the surrounding Temple Square gardens. The Deuel Log Cabin is the one of just two existing pioneer homes built in 1847, the first year the Mormons arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. The two Deuel families were among the first Mormon pioneers to come to Utah and shared the cabin. It also served as the headquarters for Captain Howard Stansbury during his 1850 survey of Great Salt Lake. Today the cabin displays furnishings typical of the earliest pioneer homes in Utah. See the Mormon pioneer log cabin on the Salt Lake City Deluxe Tour, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir & Deluxe City Tour, or the Salt Lake Trolley Tour. Reserve your seats on the sightseeing tour bus online at www.SaltLakeCityTours.org or www.SaltLakeTrolley.com or call (801) 531-1001.
