Words cant describe the love I have for this place. My grandmother is from Ireland and Ive been to visit several times and this is the most authentic pub in the south. The food is top notch, the Guinness is the best in the city - I can actually say this as I was trained at St James's Gate in Dublin, Ireland. The thing has has the most appeal to me is that the whiskey selection is vast - i love the Jameson 12 and Greenspot! I love Chef Matt and all his culinary creations - the soup of the day, never disappoints nor does the Fish and Chips or the Shepard's Pie.

All our food was good, great even, but some was just a little too small. The Shepherd Pie is not enough for a person. Friend had to order more food since it was so small. Service was fantastic and they were on top of everything except when we were ready to pay, waited a bit long for that. But that was minor in comparison to all the good food we tried. Dessert was great too. Huge collection of Irish Whiskey and beer.

The Irish House is in a tall, narrow, deep wood frame building on the River side of St. Charles Avenue. The exterior and interior are elaborately and tastefully designed in an Irish "homey" theme. The wait staff are friendly and professional. We ordered a Tuesday special: two Fish & Chips for the price of one and draft beer (had Smithwick's) for $4.00 per pint. The fish meal, while ordinary, was delicious and not at all greasy. The seltzer bread with butter appetizer was interesting. Also, their tartar sauce was quite nice. I'd most certainly head back to this place! RJT

Best service ever. Quick, friendly, efficient' and fun. Guinness poured perfectly and tasted perfect. Had the Shepard's Pie and it was wonderful. Wasn't dry as another poster mentioned. Went the day after St. Patrick's Day at mid-day and the place was busy, but not crowded. Was able to get a bar seat and was quickly greeted with a menu and a beer reccommendation. You will love this place.

From the hostess at the door to the food service staff on the floor - The Irish House excels at everything it does. The menu is phenomenal and the staff are fantastic. My party received a personal welcome from Conor, the Irish manager - a true gentleman. The selection of local, Irish and International beers, wines and liquor is second to none. I could not rate this place highly enough. You have to try the Fish and Chips, wash it down with a pint of Guinness and have a sticky toffee pudding and Irish coffee for desert! 5 Stars Chef Murphy!

Good food, reasonable prices. THE place in NOLA to go for Irish whiskey. Minor disappointment that the live music was "country/bluegrass", expected Irish/Celtic.

The beer selection here is great, but thats about where it ends. The appetizers taste frozen. The entrees have a distinct sour/bitter taste. We sat near the main entrance and continually smelled a rotten smell of garbage.

Great service, friendly bartenders, and outstanding food. Atmosphere is as authentic as America can be for an Irish place
