What a monster...
Shocked by McConnell dumping gimps out of wheelchairs into jail?
It gets worse

Mitch McConnell is a polio survivor, and as a child was saved from life in a wheelchair by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's activism and cooperation with the nonprofit sector in establishing the March of Dimes and federally funded research into polio cures, which eventually lead to Salk's vaccine.

But McConnell spent a chunk of his childhood in rehab at Warm Springs in Georgia on money raised at the Presidential Balls and through FDR's own money, treating his "infantile paralysis" with month after month of intensive physical therapy so he'd have the hope of a normal childhood, and a normal life.

It was The Great Depression. There was no government health care yet. Medicare and Medicaid were yet to be established by the president who was dipping into his personal fortune and his busy schedule to help children like Mitch, and for the many Americans who -- when many Americans went hungry for want of the nickel it cost for a quart of milk -- sent a dime taped to a piece of paper in an envelope to the newly established March of Dimes.

This is the man who is ordering the Capital Police, who recently saved his colleagues from an assassin, to cuff and dump people with disabilities from their wheelchairs and haul them off, for the "crime" of littering his hallway with their Constitutional right to petition Congress for redress of grievances.

He is standing in the schoolhouse doorway. It will stand in history. He is standing because he can stand, because FDR made it so, and apparently he has forgotten, conveniently.

And his president and he are dooming a generation to poverty and disability and death. Including, incidentally, myself.

There but for the grace of God, McConnell.
