This should really go in the #Frustrated collection or #Ripoff but because I don't have them, it goes to public :)

For our family, #Obamacare has been a disaster. Our premium skyrocketed (it used to be 0, now a few thousand dollars) and all of our copays etc. increased, leaving less disposable income per month for us, but getting the same or worse service than before.

My daughter requires regular blood tests as well as ultrasounds, in an effort to quickly diagnose a potential life threatening disease. There have been serious indications towards that effect so we are doing everything we can to ensure that IF it happens, we will catch it soon. Loads of bloodwork we had to pay from out of pocket. The ultrasounds though are a regular thing every month or so, and we visit the local center.

Last month, I took the little one we went there and after the $100 copay (used to be $20) we went in for the ultrasound. The little one was very upset at that point and she could not stop crying, thus making all the ultrasound pictures blurry and the technician could not complete the task. 5 minutes later we left and we were told we will not be charged for this because they did not do the work.

Lo and behold today I get the bill for that visit. I called them, explained, they told me that IF they agree to not charge us it will be out of courtesy. Courtesy for what? For not doing their job and getting paid for it? For me not getting a service but still paying for it? The gentleman on the phone was very condescending and was not interested in what I had to say. It appears that there is a supervisor of the "coders" (no idea what they do) that decided that work had been performed and that they covered their bases.

After quite a bit of back and forth, I decided, hey #FreeMarket!!.

So I informed the gentleman that we will no longer be visiting their offices (they have many around here for various specialties and tasks) and will take our business elsewhere, and in addition I will ensure that I tell everyone that I know about how we have been treated. This might not hurt their business at all, but they will no longer enjoy our funds.

Free market always wins!
