His. Story.

"If I only scrape a living at least it's a living worth scraping. If there's no future in it - at least it's a present worth remembering. If it fires a happiness and waves of gratitude for everything that brought us to that point on earth... at that moment in time... to do something worth remembering... with a photograph..."

right there: my story of singleness
(Russ Mills) I’ve read about 8965, 7346 blogs dedicated to this one topic. And
I can’t claim to be any different. I guess I never imagined what would come
tumbling out of my fingers and onto this screen. However, it’s part of my journey,
part of what could ...

She sits a little upright, her back
hunched ever so slightly over a book entitled “When in Rome”. Her skin, old and
wrinkled like an old renaissance portrait, tells a story in itself. Mixed hues
of pinks, blues, purples and browns. She is her own canvass. S...

Don't agree with all of it.
But love some of it.

"Don’t date a girl who travels. She is hard to please. The usual dinner-movie date at the mall will suck the life out of her. Her soul craves for new experiences and adventures. She will be unimpressed with your new car and your expensive watch. She would rather climb a rock or jump out of an airplane than hear you brag about it."

I think the world needs more fathers like my own... Who sends me undeserved (and sometimes exaggerated) messages like this:

"A huge happy valentines day. And I think we all think and know you are an incredibly beautiful woman. Thank God for your beauty height looks and brains and health. Wear the red dress. Huge love dad."

Hi there... I'd love some advice on how to go about writing online (for companies or individuals etc). If there are any places you can register or contact people/ persons? I have two blogs which have been helpful in terms of receiving feedback. I have done some freelance voluntary stuff for a magazine in South Africa but I would like to actually earn something and gain more experience. I am currently in an ideal setting and situation to write my heart out - so any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks :)

If you have a favourite site, or style of site, that you want to work for then spend time analysing the content - what type of features do they run? what style of language do they use? That sort of thing. Then come up with an idea for an article that would fit the regular content on the site - if possible one that would compliment a regular section.

Then put together a pitch outlining your experience (don't mention that your freelance work was voluntary, it's not entirely relevant and will weaken your pitch), what your article idea is, how you will present it, and how it fits into the normal content of the site.

Then find the editorial email address (should be under contacts or try Googling editorial site name contact) and send in the idea. Once it's away start coming up with another idea, then another. One will hit home.

Be polite and professional at all time. If you get a commission make sure you finish it early if you can, proof it mercilessly, and be willing to adjust it if anything needs fixing.

I've been working as a freelancer for about 10 years now, written for a variety of magazines and sites, and enjoy the job very much. It's hard going and you need to constantly generate ideas but it's worth the effort.

I hope you have some success with your pitches and see your name in pixels in the near future.

Cheers
