Fabulous post from +Marcelo Davera Garcia!
The melody appeared out of nowhere in Franz's head. Certain that he could write a few verses around those notes when he got home, he recorded it on his cell phone, preventing it to get lost along the day. At night, after parking the car in front of his house, and before reaching the door, he was surrounded by a purple light that came from above. Franz could listen to the notes of the melody that had been in his head coming from the spaceship seconds before being taken away.

Marvelous image and post from +Ken Fowkes!
For the last year and a half I’ve been making photographs of the twisty bare branches of a corkscrew willow tree in sunlight against a dark backdrop of a shaded ivy covered wall. I use long exposure and a variety of camera motions to stroke the image of sunlit branches across the camera sensor, forming complex abstract light paintings. The framing of subject, the ever changing light, and the varied camera motions, together create a vast number of possible images, and I use iteration and curation to explore this space, to find rare images that border on representational, allowing serendipity to play a key role in the process of image making.
With this process I explore the notion that order can emerge spontaneously from chaos, given sufficient time and a process which identifies and preferentially selects ordered states. This notion plays an important role in the theory of evolution and in some theories of cosmology, but because the scales of time and space are beyond reckoning, embracing such theories involves for me a leap of faith, with which I have a niggling discomfort. That discomfort adds focus to the simple joy of exploration and discovery that motivates me to spend hours waving my camera around at a dead willow tree, and even more hours wading through thousands of images searching for a hint of recognition.
The Shaman’s Horse was formed using a travelling up-down-up-down motion lasting one second, and is a negative image -- the strokes of light have become strokes of dark, much like ink applied to paper. It is one of five hundred and fifty three images taken early one morning in June 2017, and one of only two that border on representational.
No doubt, the Shaman can provide us a comfortable understanding of our existence. From the perspective of this image, tossed up to us from the chaos, we may wonder if the Shaman is a charlatan, but we can see clearly that his magical horse is the real deal.
