Attempting to upgrade a box running Ubuntu Lucid to Precise, failed. "E: Could not perform immediate configuration on 'python-minimal'. Please see man 5 apt.conf under APT::Immediate-Configure for details" Oh, great. Workaround so far has required manually running dpkg to install .deb files from /var/cache/apt/archives, recursing down the dependency chain one by one. Way to go Canonical. Release quality. The same people that wouldn't ship Evolution 3.4 with the rest of GNOME 3.4 because it "wasn't ready yet".
Usually updating from LTS to LTS isn't well supported till a .1 release of the new LTS is out the door.Apr 29, 2012
+Stuart Young you gotta read that man page, though. "So in theory it is possible that APT encounters a situation..." Bloody brilliant. When I grow up, I want to write software like that.Apr 29, 2012
Oh I know the man page well. I've used it with Ubuntu and Debian both.
Point is, the reason it gets to there is because the package doesn't handle the situation you need, vis-a-vis upgrading Lucid to Precise directly, rather than stepping in-between, or waiting for Precise.1.Apr 29, 2012
