[New Video]: In this "Giving Talk" on November 23, 2014 in the 11:00am service at First Baptist Raytown, I give the congregation some reflections on having another baby in the house.

Earlier in the 9:30am service, my wife and I dedicated our youngest daughter Addison to the Lord.

Having another baby in the house has been a great reminder for me of the process of maturity and contentment.

You see, when Addison entered this cold, cruel world back on July 30, she was discontent, untrusting, and immature. She kept crying on a regular basis because either she wanted to eat, sleep, or have a dirty diaper changed. But over time, she is growing and maturing. She has slowly been getting on a schedule over the last few months. She is learning to trust that her mom and dad are going to provide for her needs and take care of her.

The same thing is true for us as believers. Part of the maturing process of moving from a baby Christian to an adult Christian is learning to trust our Heavenly Father that He will provide for our needs.

In Matthew 6:31-33 we read,

31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

We move from baby Christian to adult Christian by being more concerned about God’s Kingdom than our own needs. We learn to trust God to meet our daily needs.

God tests us in this area of trusting Him by asking us to return at least 10% [the tithe] and beyond back to Him. He promises to provide and take care of us as we learn to trust Him.

[New Video]: In this "Giving Talk" on October 19, 2014 in the 9:30am service at First Baptist Raytown, I tell the congregation a cute, little story about my daughter Katelynn.

Kathleen is 22 months old and is quite the little "chatterbox." She has 2 favorite words right now - No and Mine!

The sad reality is that even as adults, those 2 favorite words can creep into our conversations with the Lord.

God's Word tells us that everything belongs to Him.

“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.” (Psalm 24:1)
