Profit Vista Financial Research: Five Day-Trading Strategies For Newbies...!!

What Is Day Trading?

Day trading is the term used for market positions which are held just for a short time; usually the trader opens and closes a position on the same day but he can also hold positions for a time period. The position can be either long or short. During the day trading, a day trader looks to take advantage of volatility and lessen “overnight risk” caused due to situations that might occur after the markets are closed.

In the 1990s, the concept got a bad reputation when many beginners started to day trade, using the new online trading platforms without applying established stock trading strategies. People thought that stock trading is some “quick get rich” scheme, when you can make money with very little knowledge or efforts. But, this is not the case.

Profit Vista Financial Research: Equity Trading Investment Guide...!!

Equities are traded on the stock market. These could be in the primary or secondary market. In the primary market, companies get listed through an initial public offering. Therefore, new securities are available in the primary market. In the secondary market, investors buy or sell securities, which have already been issued. In current scenario, more than 1300 securities are available for equity trading on the NSE (National Stock Exchange) and over 6000 on BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange).

- How to trade in equities?

Equity trading is very straightforward. All you have to do is buy shares of a company. For this, you need a Demat account and an equity account. You will then have to link your savings bank account with the trading account to transfer money easily for buying the equities.
