Would be nice to have date and time as separate parameters, so I could remove the date from input_format, but keep at the top of my screen.

It's actually very easy to do something like this. Let's customize the time_format as an example.
This is the default t-ui time_format:
<time_format value="dd MMM yyyy hh:mm:ss"/>
Pretty simple format which outputs the date (day month year) and time hour:minutes:seconds) side-by-side. Example:
01 Jan 2018 12:30:15
That looks too simple. I'd like to add a label like "Date:" and "Time:". What I do is edit the value to something like:
<time_format value="'Date:' dd MMM yyyy 'Time:' hh:mm:ss"/>
Your time format in the launcher will look like:
Date: 01 Jan 2018 Time: 12:30:15
!!!Important!!!:When adding words or letters to the time_format that are "not essential" or just added for decoration, you must enclose them with single quotes '...'. Otherwise, t-ui will get confused and just show t0 instead of the time in the launcher. (I'm using beta and currently this only applies to time_format).
Looking better :). Now I want the time to appear on a new line or below the date. What I do is just add %n to the value which adds a new line. Like so:
<time_format value="'Date:' dd MMM yyyy%n'Time:' hh:mm:ss"/>
Date: 01 Jan 2018
!!!Important!!!: Notice I did not enclose %n with single quotes or added spaces? That's because t-ui understands what %n does -- that is, add a new line after the year. If you did add single quotes, %n will still add a new line.
Nice, but it would look better with, let's say, emojis. What I do is just add them to the value like so:
<time_format value="'🌎 Date:' dd MMM yyyy%n'⏳ Time:' hh:mm:ss"/>
Which should look like:
🌎 Date: 01 Jan 2018
⏳ Time: 12:30:15
Note: emojis in time_format can either be enclosed in single quotes or not and they will still appear.
That's it! You can do this to others like the battery_format. What's important is that you know the values and what they do. Check out the tutorial. It's very well written and detailed. Just experiment and see what works.
My theme may not look good on your end as I have made many changes: from colors, sizes, number of characters, etc. It may just look like a jumbled mess. What I have outlined above are essentially the basics that will lead you to discover other possibilities.
My color theme is based on the Solarized color palette: ethanschoonover.com - Solarized - Ethan Schoonover
You can also ask help from the community if you have questions. Just post a screenshot of your launcher or your current format for example :)
