Brisbane Geek Social Club's posts

While 2016 had its ups and downs overall it was a great year for the Brisbane Geek Social Club it was out biggest year yet with some really massive growth. A few interesting numbers for the stat geeks out there This Facebook Page gained 129 new likes taking us over the 700 mark and a bit beyond. We started our Facebook Group which has reached 373 members in about 4 months. We had over 400 new members join our Meetup Group taking us up over 1100 members and then some. We ran a whopping 173 successful events/meet ups over the course of the year with a few more which were only cancelled due to dangerous weather. This means it was an average of 3.326 events per week or 14.4 per month! The Brisbane Geek Social Club hopes that all of our members and followers had a great time with us this year. With our eye on the horizon and looking to always grow and improve things are only looking to get bigger and better for us. We have some pretty big goals going forward to lay the groundwork for potentially even more ambitious ideas and we hope to have you along for the ride. Welcome to 2017 everyone. #achievements #goodbye2016 #hello2017 #newyear

So who out there is going to a midnight screening and who will join us on Saturday? Could always do both.

Going to Supanova Pop Culture Expo in Brisbane this weekend? You should join us for lunch at The Plough Inn on Saturday. It's a great time to catch up and regroup between panels. Link to our meetup event for lunch will be in the first post below.

Tomorrow night we have this week's One Shot RPG and it is another run of 3:16 Carnage Amongst The Stars. Don't forget to check it out on Meetup. This high-octane Science-Fiction role-playing game for 2 or more players has your Space Troopers killing bugs all across the Cosmos. You’ll advance in rank, improve your weapons, slay civilization after civilization and find out who you are through an innovative “Flashback” mechanic.

"Internet Quote. Karl Urban: See I can go both ways" @KarlUrban. Context matters. He was talking about making jokes about NZ and Aus.

Ahoy fellow BGSC members!! As part of being part of our Brisbane community, we have been asked to assist the making of an ABC documentary! The documentarists are making a documentary for the ABC called 'Play to Win'. They need urgent assistance to get some retro consoles to complete the filming of their documentary, as the people who were going to provide it bailed on them. If you can help message me or contact Liam at the soonest convenience. Play to Win is a documentary charting the dynamic history of game making. They need our help for their final shoot. They are after old Atari, Coleco Vision, or Commodore 64 consoles to film Tuesday 23rd August 2016 (tomorrow). They apologise for such a short time frame, but they have people on hand to collect and return at a rapid rate should you be able to help us. Please contact Liam on 0400 791 540 if you can help. Hope we can help them complete their documentary as they need our help :)

This video was put together quickly from a few photos taken in a game of Eclipse where the unthinkable happened. One alliance totally eliminated not one but three players. The United Space Alliance of the Red, White and Blue players crushed the other without mercy.
