The new year is just around the corner. What was your favourite geeky moment or event of the year. It could be meeting someone at a con, a new milestone in science for humanity or something more of a personal achievement? Also what are you most looking forward to next year?

Supanova Comic Con & Gaming in Brisbane (Brisnova as we know it) is now over for 2017. Many of our members had a great weekend at Supanova this year. Not only was Stan Lee beyond amazing but there was someone there for every type of fan. Makes it difficult when you are every type of fan rolled into one haha. On behalf of the club leadership I want to thank the members who hung out with us and each other. Sometimes having a friend with you makes these things even better. The lunch was a great chance to catch up with those who could make it. So thanks to our President Vlad for organising that. We all also must to thank the Supanova volunteers and staff. Without these legends things would be truly choas. They make the impossible happen. Especially being able to corral thousands of our fellow geeks and put us in an orderly fashion around those autograph and photo lines. Now the recovery can begin for our health and our wallets. We hope you all avoid the dreaded con-flu. As we return to our regular range of events we will all have great stories to share. Don't be a stranger, there is no need to contain your geekdom to just the cons.

For those of you who work or study in the Brisbane City Council area today is the EKKA Day. What are your plans? Going to the show, a day of gaming, binge watching Netflix or going to work for those sweet overtime rates with nobody around? Whatever you are doing today make the most of it but since it's also hump day you won't have long to wait for the weekend!

Hey everyone. I know we have some keen board gamers in the group and you're all probably wondering where the event for this weekend is. Well between massive Magic events filling the stores we usually go to and Supanova down at the Gold Coast probably dragging a number of you away we decided that it is ok to call this weekend a break weekend.

Hey Everyone we just want to say to everyone please be careful with the current weather conditions around Brisbane and across our wonderful state. We all are really quite passionate about our geeky hobbies and interests but they aren't worth putting yourself at risk. We have no events on today/tonight and any over the next couple days will be assessed according to the how things go. In any case we will let you know. We also suggest keeping an eye on the situation by following the warnings on the Bureau of Meteorology website Also a good thing to do is follow the Queensland Police Service as they will share regular updates including the weather situation, accidents, road closures and the like. On the positive side of things everyone who was sent home from school or work these are great conditions to get in some board or computer games, binge watching Iron Fist or anything else you might want to catch or heck even reading a good old book just keep it and yourself safe and dry. #bigwet
