Western States Bank will be hosting a book signing for up-and-coming local Loveland author and business woman Deann Hummel from 1:00pm – 3:00pm Thursday, May 19 at its Loveland branch, 3149 N. Garfield Avenue.

Deann will be selling and signing her first book, “A Walk Beside Me,” a memoir documenting her family experience learning about and responding to her son’s Duchene muscular dystrophy journey.

In this memoir, Deann celebrates her son, who touched so many lives in a short period of time. He always had a smile on his face, and he never let obstacles get in his way. Through his actions, he inspired everyone around him to live out loud. Luke always gave a helping hand, and his purpose in life was to share the love in his heart. His life will inspire you to overcome obstacles and recognize the importance of cherishing the ones you love.

Deann Hummel This is the first book signing to be hosted in Western States Bank’s Loveland location. When the branch relocated in 2015, space was dedicated to showcase work from local artists, authors and artisans.

“Western States Bank has a strong focus on community banking, outstanding customer service and community involvement,” said Doug Couse, Loveland branch manager for Western States Bank.” Loveland is home to many talented professionals producing inspiring work. Deann is already a staple in the community and we are honored to help her share her story and her passion with others through this event.”

Leadership Loveland class hosting Prom Night Impact
Thank You to our Sponsors !
Leadership Loveland is a long-standing leadership program of the Loveland Chamber of Commerce. Each year, class members support a local cause with completion of their class project. This year, class members are impacting local high school seniors with a Prom Night Impact event. The event will take place Friday, April 22, 2016 from 12:30-1:30pm at Berthoud High School. Over 600 high school seniors from Thompson School District are expected to attend the event, with attendance required by the district.

The Prom Night Impact event will feature a dramatic portrayal of a drinking and driving scene to urge students to drive safe and avoid life-threatening consequences of drinking driving and distracted driving. Local drama students, 911-Disbatch, the ADAM Club (Alcohol/Drug Awareness Movement), Mothers Against Drunk Driving, and others will be presenters in the Prom Night Impact event. Prom Night Impact is scheduled to take place one week before prom and during National Distracted Driving Awareness month. Leadership Loveland class members have partnered with Thompson School District, Loveland Police Department, Loveland Fire Rescue Authority, Colorado State Patrol, UC Health, Home State Bank, Elks Drug Awareness Program, Guaranty Bank, Kaiser Permanente, The Group Real Estate and Weedin Agency.

From Where I Stand....
The activity of the Fix North I-25 Business Alliance has been wide-reaching and the highlights of the last several months are:
I-25 has become a huge problem. Thanks to the efforts of the Fix North I-25 Business Alliance, this is the "Year of Transportation" at the state capitol and throughout government meetings across the state. Great progress has been made as the Business Alliance works to secure $1.2 billion to widen 26 miles of I-25 to three lanes each way between Highway 14 in Fort Collins and Highway 66 north of Longmont by 2025.
