Share or sell food from your garden to the people around you, or get food from your neighbors. This site makes it easy to monitor local crops and get alerts when they are ready. http://www.ripenear.me/

Hand crafted epoxy coated brushless motors! Last touch-ups today with the brush before going on the robot and in to the sea. Bring it on Monterey Bay salt water.

Nice dream, can it happen??

Open Libernet is a Mesh Networking protocol based on Bitcoin that promises to create a completely decentralized, censorship and denial-of-service proof alternative to the internet. "We have completely ignored the problem of internet backward compatibility. Our protocol is designed from the grounds up to live on its completely separated network. This will allow us to utilize a hierarchical routing protocol, while completely disregarding the issue of maintaining an Addressing scheme that is compatible with the internet. But the most important addition to Mesh Networking that Open Libernet brings is the element of Incentive. Our network is built around a robust payment system, modeled after the tried and tested algorithm for the decentralized crypto-currency Bitcoin, to introduce inter-node payments. The concept is simple, the more traffic you help route efficiently, the more traffic you earn for your own consumption. This serves to limit abuse, encourage the community to actively expand and maintain the network, and persuade people to join. The payment system will also make it possible for the network to punish abusers and possibly ostracize them. And naturally, traffic can be earned, transferred, donated or sold, making it a valuable commodity, akin to a currency." Nodes will use cryptographic hashes that look like IPv6 and also act as a payment address for the payment system.

A friend of mine is organizing some google hangout sustainability classes on construction etc. He's a good guy and really builds stuff.

I have 3 years of teaching sustainability. Who here would like to attend FREE online classes that will cover everything from Farming to house construction.  I will be teaching over Google hangouts.

We will start every class with a problem and end every class with a solution.
Please post here if you are interested in attending these classes.
We are looking for a good time and day.  What would work for you?

Dog in my turnip flowers the other day. The bees have gotten a GPS lock on my house and love these flowers.

Tried potting some brushless motors today for salt water resistance using tape and toilet bowl wax with west marine epoxy. This is the next trial of Marks motor techniques for OpenROV. The last version used a PVA 3d printed mold. He machined some bushings for me too. Just need to put the motors in a lathe to clean them up, spray the magnets in the motor bell with a protective coating, and I'm good to go. Bring it on ocean!
