1. MEDICAL/CHEMICAL ABORTION METHODS
This method involves the use of drugs.
I. RU-486(Mifepristone): It is also called “The Abortion Pill”. The drug interference with the level of progesterone (a hormone that keeps the fetus implanted in the wall of the uterus).
II. Methotrexate & Misoprostol: Misoprostol is used for ulcer treatment while Methotrexate is used for treatment of cancer. In chemical abortion, these two drugs are used together. Methotrexate causes cell in the placenta to die. Misoprostol empties the fetus from the uterus by causing the uterus to contract and push the fetus out. Methotrexate is a drug used in the Chemography and has the potential for serious lever toxicity.
III. Morning After Pills: This pills is sometimes used in rape cases. Up to 72 hours after the intercourse, the woman I’d administered large dose of birth control pills(or levonorgestrel also known as plan B) to prevent embryo from implanting in the uterus wall. 12 hours after the first does, a second does is given.

2. SURGICAL ABORTION METHOD
I. Manual Vacuum Aspiration: Within 17 weeks after last menstrual period. It consist of removing fetus or embryo, placenta and membrane by suction using manual syringe.
II. Suction curettage: After 14 weeks from last menstrual period.
III. Dilation and Curettage (D&C): within the first 12 weeks.
IV. Dilation and Evacuation (D&E): Within 12-14 weeks after last menstrual period. It consist of opening the cervix of the uterus and emptying it using surgical instruments and suction.
V. Saline: After 15 weeks of pregnancy.
VI. Prostaglandin: After 15weeks of pregnancy.
VII. Hysterotomy: After 18weeks. It procedure is similar to caesarean section and its performed under general anesthesia, it requires a smaller incision than a caesarean section.
VIII. Dilation and Extraction (D&E): from 20weeks after last mental period. It is also called partial birth abortion. Its requires surgical decompression of the fetus head before evacuation.
