Now on the FunkyTown Photography Blog:

It was a fateful trip to London that brought these two love birds together. Jon had been working and living there for three years and he had a large group of friends, including Melanie’s sister (it was apparently a set-up from the start, but neither party suspected). Well, the sparks definitely flew and they just knew they had found a forever partner in each other. After carrying out a long-distance relationship for about six months, Jon moved to San Francisco to be with his love and they started planning their destination wedding. As luck would have it, I had a stop-over at SFO en route to Costa Rica, so I had a chance to hang out for an afternoon enjoying pretty much every beautiful spot in the city, finishing off at Melanie’s family restaurant, the The Tadich Grill. Established in 1849, it is California’s oldest restaurant (and owned by her family since the beginning). We arrived with a crowd lining up out the door to feast on the catch of the day. We ate, chatted and enjoyed the food, and then had a few additional portraits just before closing time. What a fun way to spend a stop-over! Derek and I cannot wait until their wedding later this summer. Stay tuned for what should be an extremely festive party hosted by two of the nicest people you could ever meet!

I am absolutely THRILLED to have won my 23rd Fearless Award! These are highly coveted in the industry and it’s always a huge rush if your photo gets chosen!

“Fearless Awards are stunning wedding photos that excel in redefining wedding photography or are just too amazing! We’re very selective – about 1 in 100 images submitted are awarded by our curators and displayed in the photographers’ profiles as Fearless Awards.”

This photo was taken during a surprise rainstorm that happened almost immediately after the bride walked up the aisle to say her vows in Victoria, BC. It continued to pour until just after they said their ‘I do’s’, but as you can see they just enjoyed it and celebrated with the hugest smiles on their faces.
