TV audience and survey data from the days immediately following JFK's assassination show that Americans collectively tuned in to non-stop coverage that pioneered a new form of wall-to-wall television news delivery.

Happy birthday to Jimi Hendrix today in Rock and Roll Heaven

James MarshallJimiHendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix) (27 November 1942, Seattle, Washington, USA – 18 September 1970, London, England) was a most influential guitarist, singer, songwriter, and record producer who helped to develop the technique of guitar feedback with overdriven amplifiers, experimented with stereophonic and phasing effects, and broke new ground in using the recording studio as an extension of his musical ideas. Jimi Hendrix has been awarded many times and is considered one of the best guitarists of all time.

DICK CAVETT : What would you say is the meaning of destruction onstage when you do it like that?

JIMI HENDRIX : Hmm, I was in such a trance when I did it, but let me see if I can remember. When you watch us play and so forth, you can get it out of your system. Make it into theatrics instead of putting it on the streets, so that when you get home with your family or girlfriend, you have all this tension out of the way. It's nothing but a release, I guess.

DC : Do you think music has a meaning?

JIMI : Oh yeah, definitely. It's getting to be more spiritual, so, than anything. Pretty soon, I believe, that we're going to have to rely on music to, uh like, get some kind of peace of mind or satisfaction, or direction actually. More so than politics. Because politics is really an ego scene. That's the way I look at it anyway. It's all a big fat ego scene, for instance.

DC : Ego scene?

JIMI : Well yeah. It's the art of words, which means nothing. So therefore you have to rely on a more of a earthier substance like music or the arts, theater, acting, painting, whatever. …

DC : What do you mean by "Electric Church"?

JIMI : That's just a belief that I have. We do use electric guitars. Everything is electrified nowadays, so therefore the belief comes through electricity to the people. That's why we play so loud. Because our music doesn't actually hit through the eardrums, like most groups do nowadays. They say, "Well, we're gonna play loud too because they're playing loud, and they've got this real shrill sound that's really hard." We want our sound to go into the soul of the audience, and see if it can awaken some little thing in their minds… Cause there are so many sleeping people.

DC : What compliments do you like to hear?

JIMI : I don't really live on compliments. As a matter of fact, they have a way of distracting me. I know a whole lot of musicians, artists out there who hears the compliments and thinks "wow, I must have been really great" and so they get fat and satisfied and they get lost and forget about their actual talent and start living in another world.

DC : How could you make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and still sing the blues?

JIMI : Sometimes it gets to be really easy to sing the blues when you're supposedly making all this much money. It's like money is getting to be out of hand now. Musicians especially young cats they get a chance to make all this money, and they say, "Wow! This is fantastic," and like I said before, they lose themselves. They forget about the music itself. They forget about their talents. They forget about the other half of them. So therefore you can sing a whole lot of blues. The more money you make, the more blues you can sing sometimes. But the idea is to use all these hang-ups and all these different things as steps in life.

DC : You are the greatest guitarist in the world.

JIMI : I wouldn't say that I'm the greatest guitarist ever. I'd say probably that I'm the greatest guitarist sitting in this chair.

DC :  Janis Joplin is a superstar

JIMI : I'm Super Chicken and don't you forget it!

DC : Do you consider yourself a disciplined guy? Do you get up every day and work?

JIMI : Oh, I try to get up every day. I'm still trying today.

Google maps calls it Delawanda Park but the Columbus Recreation and Parks calls it Kenney Park. I kept wondering where Delawnda Park ended and where Kenney Park started. a great Columbus nature blogger has a lot of posts about his life with the Olentangy River practically at his door in north Columbus...Tom Arbour who writes The Ohio Nature Blog would refer to the park as Kenney Park. The City of Columbus site says of Kenney Park: "Also known as Delawanda Park." Delawanda Park is the alias!

We have eaten at Cuisine of India a number of times. Last night was a miss. Gosht Saagwala with shrimp featured hard, tasteless, rubbery shrimp. The Gosht Tikka Masala my companion ordered was much better. He ordered it with lamb. He had garlic naan too and enjoyed it. I ordered the Gosht Saagwala mild, he ordered the Gosht Tikka Masala medium. The Gosht Saagwala was spicier than the Gosht Tikka Masala. Switched? Or is Gosht Saagwala mild a spicier dish than medium Gosht Tikka Masala? I am sure we will go back. Just remind me never to order the shrimp again.
