In this paper we present the RADICAL platform, a software stack that enables the combination of social network (SN) services and Internet of Things (IoT) in the context of innovative smart cities. RADICAL makes possible the development and deployment of interoperable pervasive multi-sensory and socially-aware services; facilitates smart governance and flexible replication of services across cities and regions through a Virtual Machine generation mechan-ism in a sophisticated cloud environment. A large scale piloting of the platform integrates, deploys and tests various services in the areas of Cycling Safety, Participatory Urbanism, Augmented Reality and others while a large group of citizens from different countries are actively involved in the co-creation, validation and evaluation of the RADICAL approach on the basis of an innovative Living Labs approach.

The Solar Powered Air Dryer is new technology basing on blending Solar Thermal. In our project the solar panel is used to convert the light energy to heat energy by flat plate collector method. The machine, solar air dryer, we introduce through our project is mainly useful for drying seeds, fruits and wherever moisture contents. In our project, the solar air dryer consists of four main parts such as solar panel, battery, heating element and blower. The blower is used to passing the hot air to the required place, so that the moisture contents in the place was removed. The size of our project is also portable. So we can move the ground dryer to any place very easily.

In recent years, as the pace of people’s life is speeding up, more young people working far from their parents, the elderly have to live alone. With the increase of age, they tend to forget things which may create safety accidents. Therefore, a smart home system for the elderly will have good application prospects. In this paper, a smart system based on ZigBee wireless network is proposed. This system uses wireless network for transmitting information between sensor nodes and uses embedded technology to analyse the data. Once an emergency occurs, the system will send an alarm to notify the elderly. At the same time, the young people can know the situation of the house through mobile phone.
