May they rest in peace.

“Obviously these are folks who have been living a marginalized life. They’ve been living on the fringes of society, alienated from family or friends, that they would truly be unknown,” he told CNA Nov. 20.
Chicago’s Catholic cemeteries have helped bury the bodies of about 200 unidentified and unclaimed persons in recent years. One of the priests involved has stressed the importance of reducing homelessness and of mourning those who have no one to pray for them.

Some California legislators pushed to remove Junipero Serra statue from the U.S. Capitol. Read why--and read more about this pioneering missionary and early American.

RNS is widely syndicated in the Washington Post, HuffPo, USA Today, and Crux news, among other sites.

The Arcus Foundation is responsible for funding a lot of the acrimony within churches on these issues, and it is helping to shape American leaders' newfound skepticism towards religious freedom

The Arcus Foundation dispenses millions of dollars in grants every year to support LGBT activism. Its 2014 grants included $120,000 to the Religion Newswriters Foundation, the owner of the widely syndicated Religion News Service.
The editor of Religion News Service has denied that a grant from a wealthy LGBT advocacy funder has biased its coverage of traditional religion, which includes a recent controversial story on Cardinal Raymond Burke.

House of Cards on the Bay? One of the leading PR firms has been hired to attack Archbishop Cordileone's policy for Catholic high schools.

Sam Singer’s public relations firm spun a Chevron oil refinery disaster in California and fought back a legal ruling in Ecuador that could have awarded billions of dollars to indigenous people for the company’s alleged pollution damage to the Amazon. #SF #SanFran #Catholic #Education

A disturbing spending pattern to legal groups, activist groups and universities to rally opposition to religious freedom accommodations. #politics #Catholic
Questions are being raised over two U.S. foundations that have poured more than three million dollars into abortion rights, LGBT activist, and legal groups to push the message that exemptions based on religious beliefs are “un-American” and an abuse of liberty.

A well-funded LGBT lobby group is targeting the synod. Read more here.

The European Forum of LGBT Christian Groups is among the organizers of the “Ways of Love” conference of LGBT Catholic activists and their allies. The conference will be held in Rome Oct. 3, just ahead of the Catholic Church’s Synod on the Family.
As the Synod on the Family approaches, a well-funded LGBT activist coalition is lobbying bishops to revive controversial language from the debates of the 2014 extraordinary synod.

Another major story on the synod: $600,000 in U.S. money for LGBT activists trying to shift the narrative of this major Catholic event. What's the Swiss connection? Read more. #Catholic
The Swiss Catholic Lenten Fund and a major U.S. foundation have helped fund an LGBT activist project intended to counter West African bishops at the Catholic Church’s Synod on the Family.

Glad to see Rod Dreher pick up my report on the Ford / Arcus foundation collaboration. $3 million has been spent in the first years of the strategy to erode religious freedom of the foundations' opponents. How much more is on the way?

Anti-marriage bias among CNA moderators might be a story for you.
Are you aware of the deletion of pro-Catholic comments on your article: "No, Indiana did not just pass a law discriminating against gay people. Here's why.?" while allowing many snide and virulently  anti-Catholic posts. Not all, and not systematic, but most of mine, and who knows other people's.
I have kept all but my first three comments which were lost so that you can see for yourself that they are respectfully couched.
I have complained to the news@catholicna.com email. No answer. I have addressed the moderators directly - no response.
Would you take an interest?

Another Iraqi refugee family I met in Iraq. Wonderful people, may God grant them a good home in a new country very soon!

“No, we will never go back,” Taif Hanna, an engineer from Mosul, told reporters in Amman Oct. 28. “ISIS tried to kill us,” he said. The militant group offered three choices: conversion to Islam, payment of an extortionate tax, or death. “So we all fled Iraq,” Taif said. #Iraq #ISIS #ISIL #IS #Christian #SaveMEChristians
Christians lived in Iraq for nearly two thousand years, but the violent rise of the Islamic State has convinced many Christian refugees they must forever leave their homeland.

Deeply privileged to have visited refugees in Jordan and Lebanon as part of CRS' Egan Fellow program. More to come, here's a short review:
Catholic Relief Services' Egan Journalism Fellows traveled to Jordan and Lebanon, where they met with refugees from Iraq and Syria and saw firsthand how Catholic Relief Services, Caritas and the Church are providing emergency support to refugee families.
