1) Make a reservation, its "just" BBQ but they get busy. Like, 1 hr wait at 5pm. WHAT. 2) Cornbread in cast iron was the best thing I ate. 3) Great service! The ribs are smokey, the fried chicken was THE BOMB (juicy, crispy, and fall off the bone), brisket was ok. The entrees come with 2 sides. I liked the mac and the greens. Everyone raves about garlic mash, but I found it 1-dimensional in flavor. Chili was good, but a lot if you're getting an entree. Tried a black bean, ham soup. It was wonderful!

Eats: Gus's Famous Burger, Sweet Potato Fries, French Fries I came here on recommendation of my Enterprise Rent-a-Car driver. I had time to kill, and he said Gus's Famous Burger was pretty good. From the outside, one would pass by Gus' without even knowing what was inside. From the street, all the windows blinds were pulled down, and there was no way to tell what was on the other side of that door. Lo and behold I find a 50's diner style area up front, and a contemporary darker colored full bar area in back. The majority of the patrons were in the back with most of the front area clear on a Monday dinner hour. Gus's Famous Burger was great. About 5 star great, mostly because of the attention to the lightly buttered brioche bun. The bacon and garlic aioli were the 2nd best things on the burger and gave every bite on the burger knee buckling flavor. I could have sworn there was an egg in the burger, but it was the brioche bun's egg and butter locked in. I had a sampling of both Sweet Potato and French Fries. I wasn't a big fan of the sweet potato fries from the blandness. The French Fries had a light seasoning salt on them though that was pretty good. Regardless, these fries allowed me to sample the 3 different BBQ sauces on every table. I ended up liking the Original BBQ Sauce better than the Spicy (surprised myself). But really try them all because it's fun. This review ends on a downer, but based on food alone, Gus's is a 4 star. For some reason, every time I spoke to my watier, he always trailed off the last word as he walked away. When asked how my food was tasting, I would end up talking to his back since he would drift away as I was talking. This could be allowable in the busy hour, but the restaurant was less than half full. I actually got the same experience from my food server. He asked me if I wanted anything else with my food, but was already 3-4 steps away before I could respond. I'm not really sure what would get me to visit this restaurant again, but I hear the ribs are good.

I love this place. I love the atmosphere. The portions are huge for the price. I haven't had anything I did not like here (haven't strayed from the ribs too much, they are too good to pass up). Their cocktails are excellent (southern socialite is my fav). Choice of two sides rules. Can't go wrong with the sweet potato fries and Mac and cheese. There is not a better BBQ in the area in my opinion.

I am EXTREMELY picky about my southern food but everything I have tasted here is nothing short of delicious . My favorites are the fried catfish and pulled pork nachos! The pulled pork nachos will have you drooling weeks after taking your first bite!

Everything here was super super tasty. I had the baby back ribs and the BBQ chicken with greens and macaroni and cheese. Sat in the bar. Highly recommend it.

I Love this place. Great BBQ is a given. I'm a breakfast person, and always looking for a new place. Gus's is the best place in South Pas. If you like savory, try the Mission Omelet or "the Hangover". For sweeter, go for the Waffle with banana caramel sauce. I just ate there about 1/2 hr ago, and writing about it makes me want to go right back! Price is definitely affordable too.
