Founded and led by Emmy-winning digital entertainment executive and producer David Beebe, db/projects is a digital first entertainment company that advises on and develops digital video centric content, brands, and experiences that entertain, inform, and engage audiences and consumers across all screens.

We advise, connect, and collaborate with media companies, marketers, agencies, talent, and the creative community to explore and navigate the current state of the digital video ecosystem; define, plan, and execute digital studio opportunities; and develop, produce, distribute, market, and monetize digital video including original series, derivative websiodes, branded content, and live shows.

Beebe was recognized by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in 2011 for leading the digital studio that produced the Emmy-winning Oscar Digital Experience and in 2008 for Product Managing the Emmy-winning ABC.com Full Episode Player.

Prior to founding DB Projects, Beebe was the executive founder and SVP of the Digital Studio division at Fishbowl Worldwide Media / Vin Di Bona Productions. Beebe hired and led a team of digitally native creatives and strategists who under his leadership, successfully executed his creative and strategic vision to build a digital studio unit that was responsible for developing and producing original digital series, activating the America’s Funniest Home Videos library of clips to build new digital brands, and developing digital and social media strategies for television shows.

In just under two years, Beebe created and produced 36 episodes of the Telly-winning series “Ultimate Proposal” and “Ultimate Surprises” for Yahoo with over 40 million views. “Ultimate Proposal” has since been redeveloped into a television format and sold to series with Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos attached as EP’s. Beebe also created and produced 24 episodes of “Stunt Nation,” hosted by Sal Masekela for Yahoo. For AOL, Beebe developed and sold two original series, “Steel Dreams” and “Empty Nest,” and c0-developed the original series “Meet Cute” with Ashley Tisdale.

Beebe and his team also activated over one million plus clips from the library of “America’s Funniest Home Videos” to develop content-specific digital brands and original shows on YouTube. Beebe created and launched the “Petsami” (pet and animal programming) channel on YouTube with more than 46 million views and 64,000 subscribers. The immediate success of the channel caught the attention of Revision 3, the Discovery-owned online video network, and a new partnership to distribute and sell advertising for Petsami, as well as to first look deal and development fund for new shows was forged. Beebe also co-developed and produced “Crib Cat” with Carrie Ann Inaba and “Parkour Dogs” with Substance Over Hype for the Petami channel. Most recently, Beebe developed “ToddleTale” (baby and toddler programming), “LindoVictoriaFracaso” (a Spanish-language show) hosted by Jose Romero, the number on YouTuber in Peru, and “UnFAILtered” (fun and funny sports fails). Beebe also oversaw the production of “CuteWinFail,” in collaboration with DeFranco Inc. and YouTube celebrity host Toby Turner, which is now in its fifth season with over 200 million across the YouTube network.

Beebe led the acquisition, distribution, and marketing efforts on several projects, including “Dog Eat Dog,” a short film starring Zachary Quinto, “Midge & Buck,” “Queer Duck,” and “Poker Night,” three animated series from web series pioneer Icebox, and “The Potts,” a web series pilot created by David & Goliath Founder and Illustrator Todd Goldman and “How I Met Your Mother” Executive Producer Chuck Tatham.

Prior to joining FishBowl Worldwide Media / Vin Di Bona Productions, Beebe spent six years at the Disney/ABC Television Group, where he founded the Digital Studio division and rose through the ranks to Vice President, Digital Studio. Reporting to Albert Cheng, EVP, Digital Media, Beebe was the digital studio head charged with the strategic oversight of the studio and building and leading a creative team of over 50 people responsible for the development, production, and distribution of digital entertainment including derivative webisodes, branded shows, original series, and live shows for the Disney-ABC Television Group’s diverse portfolio of broadcast and cable networks, including ABC Entertainment, ABC Daytime, ABC Latenight, ABC Family, Disney Channel, and SOAPnet.

Beebe collaborated with ABC Studios, showrunners, and ad sales to develop and produce several derivative digital series for ABC television shows that continued and carried both storylines and characters from on-air to online and back. He first worked with “Ugly Betty” creator Silvio Horta and his producing team to develop and produce 18 webisodes of “Mode After Hours”, starring Becki Newton and Michael Urie. Next Beebe worked with “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes and EP Betsy Beers to develop and produce 6 webisodes of “Seattle Grace: On Call,” and 6 webisodes of “Seattle Grace: Message of Hope,” starring James Pickens Jr and other cast. Beebe worked with “Scrubs” creators and EPs Bill Lawrence and Randall Winston on eight webisodes “Scrubs Interns,” starring Zach Braff and cast. Beebe also oversaw the production of “Andy’s Dreams,” a six webisode series  for “Cougar Town,” starring Ian Gomez and Brian Van Holt. The webisode series were distributed on ABC.com and each shows DVD sets.

Original series developed and produced under Beebe’s leadership include “Life With Confidence for Extreme Makeover Home Edition,” “Desperate Debates” for Desperate Housewives, and cross show series “Stars Go Green,” “Star-Crossed,” “Ask,” “Golf Cart Confessions,” and the Primetime Emmy nominated “Mysteries of the Universe: The Dharma Initiative”. Shot on film, “Mysteries” was one of the biggest undertakings of the department, marking the first true transmedia production, effecting live events (Comic-Con), on-air, online, DVD, and print ads.

Beebe also led the digital video creative and strategy for the Oscars, overseeing all short form and live programming for the 79th, 80th, 81st, 82nd, and 83rd annual Academy Award shows. In 2011 for the 83rd show, Beebe was entrusted with the responsibility to execute John Lassater’s vision to create the most interactive Oscars ever. He led the digital video production team that produced the Emmy winning Oscar Live Experience that included 32 live streaming cameras that allowed fans to direct their own experience on the Oscar Backstage Pass App and Oscar All Access on Oscar.com. Beebe also developed and oversaw the production of the Oscar.com Live Red Carpet Show, as well as original series, “The Road to the Oscars”, hosted by Chris Harrison of the Bachelor, “Behind the Dress” series, hosted by Jay Manuel, and he co-developed the first ever Oscar.com “Thank You Cam” series with the late filmmaker and Oscar show producer Laura Ziskin for the 79th Annual Academy Awards.

Beebe was also the Project Manager the Emmy Award Winning Full Episode Player on ABC.com, a successful network first developed in 63 days and he oversaw the launch of the first ABC live and VOD channels for mobile.

Prior to joining the Disney/ABC Television Group, Beebe spent seven years at DIRECTV in a variety of key leadership positions covering broadcast operations, production, and digital media. As Sr. Editor and Producer, DIRECTV, he was responsible for managing editorial marketing copy for DIRECTV.com and producing news and original programming for DIRECTV’s promotional channel on air and online. Beebe was part of the DIRECTV.com launch team who oversaw two full site redesigns. Beebe also led the charge to launch the first video player on DIRECTV.com and negotiated content deals with television networks and studios to run promotional content online within the DIRECTV.com video player. He also spent four years working at two broadcast centers for DIRECTV in various satellite broadcast operation roles including scheduling and asset coordination.

Thru a multiyear production deal with Showtime Networks, Beebe served as creator and Executive Producer of six documentary-style DVD bonus features for Showtime’s his series “Queer as Folk” for three seasons.

Beebe’s career began in the United States Coast Guard, where he served as a Communications Specialist. While with the Coast Guard, Beebe was trusted with a top secret clearance and worked in a variety of technology and communication positions throughout California and Alaska until receiving an Honorable Discharge with honors.

As an expert in video, digital brands, content and strategy, Beebe has been a featured speaker and moderator at industry events organized by STREAM, UCLA,  TVNext, Silicon Beach Fest, VidCon, TubeFilter, Digital Hollywood, Digital LA, OMMA Video, Streaming Media, International Radio and Television Society, Academy Television Arts & Sciences, and the International Academy of Web Television.
