Patients who undergo surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome can regain their typing ability within two or three weeks after the operation.

That is the conclusion of a serendipitous research project that came about because a psychologist who studies the automatic response patterns involved in typing broke his shoulder.

After injuring his shoulder, a psychology professor collaborated with his orthopedic surgeon on a study to see how quickly patients regained their typing speed after carpal tunnel surgery.

Researchers have created a prototype prosthetic hand that's able to determine by touch whether fruit is ripe, and the pressure necessary to hold an object firmly, but gently, in response to the way it "feels".

#prosthetic #science #medicine
Using extra-sensitive optical detectors built into a soft prosthetic hand, researchers at Cornell University have demonstrated a prototype that is able to tell by touch whether fruit is ripe, or to modify the pressure exerted on a material simply in response to the way it feels.

Dr Knight is a skilled and gifted surgeon. Office phone management needs work. But keep in mind what you want and are looking for is a great clinical outcome. I recommend Dr. Knight highly!

Hardly any wait to see Dr. Knight. He was thorough and his POV was conservative, which I appreciated. Last visit I was in and out within 15 minutes, which is nearly unheard of when seeing a doctor.

My name is Miriam Borrayo and I had tennis and golf elbow and carpal tunnel syndrome all in the my left arm. After months of pain, visits to the doctor, tests and more I was getting frustrated because everyday I was feeling worst. I got tired of the pain and of the doctors doing nothing for me so I decided to go for another opinion, I started doing my research and I found Doctor John Knight. I call for an appointment and they gave it to me right away, no waiting. When I got the first time to his office it amazed me how kind and nice the staff were to me and how fast they take care of you. Immediately they took me to take X-rays of my hand and elbow, which I think is awesome because it saves you a couple of appointments. In no time Doctor Knight was with me and started the treatment. Unfortunately I needed surgery for the carpal tunnel. I had surgery done on January 3rd and it went great. The very next day in the morning I was able to do a full fist and the numbness in my hand was gone. Five days after the surgery I was able to start therapy and five weeks from the surgery I'm going back to work fully recovered. I'm really thankful for Doctor Knight and his staff, very professional at all times. At the therapy center I see people that they had the same kind of surgery in August and they still can close their hands, Would I go back to Doctor Knight? without a doubt, YES.

Had my carpal tunnel release surgery and a ganglion cyst removed. The cyst was embedded in a vein which made the surgery more intense and the recovery longer than usual.....full 3 months. Let's start with the fact that he's handsome, but wait there's more. He has amazing bedside manners! I know right, picture that in this day and age! He's quick but will answer any and all questions and makes sure you are good before he leaves. He's super organized which makes him very efficient. Not to mention they do use the latest technology when reviewing records and X-rays. He LISTENED to me which I must admit was surprising given his knowledge and expertise but then again that's what makes him good. He listens and then adds his knowledge and expertise and not the other way around if you know what I mean. Looking for a hand or wrist surgeon, Dr.John Knight is it! They also provide a list of Occupational Therapists which help with rehabilitation of the hand/wrist, arms, and shoulders area. HAND AND WRIST INSTITUTE will help you heal Oh and the staff both Beverly Hills and West Hills are as lovely as he.

Dr. Knight is cold and unwilling to talk doctor to doctor. He has no room to listen to anyone but himself, and has delayed proper care of my fiance due to his inability to communicate directly. He and the office are more concerned with liability than the patient's well-being. This guy is a disappointment, I came to him for my fiance after all the great reviews. I don't understand when he won't talk to anyone, or any doctor personally. Apparently, he's too busy to do anything himself, because even when he sees my fiance, the appointment barely lasts 5 minutes, and consists of him talking only. Once, I tried to tell him her background, and his answer was "do you want me to treat her, or not? You can go if not." I'm appalled by this, I thought he was a professional. He wouldn't answer any questions regarding medication, and didn't seem to care if it didn't involve what he thought was right.

**MUST READ REVIEW** **BEWARE BEFORE YOU MAKE AN APPT** I HAD THE WORST MEDICAL EXPERIENCE OF MY ENTIRE LIFE WITH DR. KNIGHT!!!!!I Dear Potential Patients, I'm a Southern California native, born and raised. Married, late thirties and raising a family. IF you were injured on the job and are in the midst of a Workers' Comp case DR. KNIGHT will NOT TREAT YOU FAIRLY. Save yourself the time and frustration and go elsewhere. He does NOT prepare for visits prior to your arrival and he does NOT give you the proper attention/respect you deserve. He rushes every appt, DOESN'T give a crap about YOU or YOUR CONDITION. After refusing to help me I brought out the medical brochure handout I recieved from his office titled: "Bringing Life Back to Your Hands" by John T. Knight, MD, Director of the Hand & Wrist Institute. Only after I turned to the page that talks about Advanced Wrist Arthroscopy he promised to treat me accordingly. BUT HE FAILED TO DELIVER ON HIS PROMISE!!! HE CANNOT BE TRUSTED!!! Here are a list of words I'd use to describe DR. KNIGHT; rude, unprofessional, unethical, dishonest, arrogant and manipulative. IF that is what you are looking for please call for an appt ASAP. Good Luck!

This is a fake review and an attack by a competitor. We have looked through all our records and have never had a patient by the name Jackie Castro. Dr. Knight has an outstanding record and has been the leading provider of hand, wrist and elbow care in Los Angeles for 20 years.
