See the portrait of a remarkable Bulgarian ruler. Еxceptional and farsighted politician from IX c. His reign marked the beginning of the First Bulgarian Empire and the flourishing of Bulgarian culture and art.
Boris I The Baptist associates the Bulgarians to Christianity and starts a cultural revolution, accepting disciples of Cyril and Methodius in his Kingdom. He provides everything needed to develop their mission and to translate all liturgical books into Slavonic, written in the new slavonic alphabet.
His son Simeon will continue his policy and will strengthen the new world phenomenon  - Slavic culture.

The fresco on the "Sveta Bogordica" church wall is dated from  XIII-XIVc. so it illustrates rather costume from this century then the original IXc. The monastery and the church are located in Treskavets /currently FYROM/.

Quenta Silmarillion, Chapter 7: Of The Silmarils and the Unrest of the Noldor

"But even as Fingolfin spoke, suddenly Fëanor appeared, and he strode into the chamber tall and threatening. A fire of anger was in his eyes, and he was fully armed: his high helm upon his head, and at his side a mighty sword. 'So it is, even as I guessed,' he said: 'my half-brother would be before me with my father, in this as in all other matters. He would not wait for the council, where all words would be heard by all, and answered. He would speak against me in secret. This I will not brook!' he cried, turning upon Fingolfin. 'Get thee gone, and take thy due place!' Then as a flash of flame he drew his sword. 'Get thee gone and dare my wrath no longer!"
Then Fingolfin bowed before Finwë, and without word or glance at Fëanor he went from the chamber. But Fëanor followed him, and at the door of the king's house he stayed him. The point of his bright sword he set against Fingolfin's breast. 'See, half-brother!' he said. 'This is sharper than thy tongue. Try but once more to usurp my place and the love of my father, and maybe it will rid the Noldor of a would-be master of thralls.' These words were heard by many, for the house of Finwë was in the great square beneath the Mindon, and many people were gathered there. But Fingolfin again made no answer, and passing through the throng in silence he went to seek Finarfin his brother."
