Our new team member +Welton Rodrigo Torres Nascimento has refactored almost entirely the Grooveshark scope and the results of his work are quite impressive.

What's new?
* Faster results
* Reduced bandwith usage
* +Ubuntu Unity dash previews

Most of these changes have already landed for Precise users, and are now available on Quantal and Raring.

Install
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:scopes-packagers/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unity-scope-grooveshark

The Flickr scope is coming back to life for Precise testers
The awesome Lorenzo Mattei has ported the Flickr scope for the Photo lens, from Oneiric to Precise.

It will be available in a few hours in our usual PPA
https://launchpad.net/~scopes-packagers/+archive/ppa

Some bugs have been identified and will be worked on this week.

The Flickr scope works great! However, I still manage to crash the Shotwell scope. Anything I can do to help debug that?

Meanwhile, on Oneiric
I'm pleased to announce that +Bernd Schlapsi's SSH search lens is now available in the Software Center for Ubuntu 11.10 users. If you like the idea of having a simple and searchable portal to all your SSH hosts, you should give it a try.

+Eduard Gotwig I'd have a look at 100 scopes in launchpad and set up your code like the lenses and scopes there. then use bzr to push it to your personal space in launchpad (see bzr documentation, how to work with launchpad). Then talk to the 100 scopes people and when everything looks nice your stuff could be put under the 100scopes roof. That's how I'd go about it.

Unity Jamendo scope
Hi all, I've just published the new Jamendo scope, bringing a new online music source to Unity (along Soundcloud, Grooveshark, U1 and Amazon). #Jamendo is a free music service with more than 400 000 songs available under Creative Commons.

If you want to test it (for Saucy or Trusty), you need to add the scopes-packagers PPA and install unity-scope-jamendo :
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:scopes-packagers
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install unity-scope-jamendo

It should also land (at some point) on the smart scopes server, which means it will available by default in the dash for Ubuntu Saucy/Trusty, desktop and mobile.

It was a fun one to write, and the music is great, I hope you'll enjoy it!

The Utilities lens seems to be quite popular... Thanks to all our users!

"Dear David Callé,

Hope you are well. You are a registered member of our Free Weather API (http://www.worldweatheronline.com). And as per the Free API Usage Policy we only allow 500 requests/hour.

On our recent check we have found that you're currently going over our fair usage policy and making more than 1187 request/hour."

+One Hundred Scopes Unfortunately, there are sometimes multiple songs with the same title, e.g. Phantom of the Opera by Iron Maiden and Nightwish. There is no way of differentiating between them in the Dash. Further, since clicking on an album does not play its songs from the first, it is quite a useless feature.
