I cannot adequately express in words the comfort and professionalism offered by the good people at Providence Eye & Laser Specialists. I had the unusual situation of receiving LASIK in my left eye and PRK in my right to correct my vision. Dr. Mozayeni and Dr. Mills answered all my questions (and there were many) and were there for me every step of the way.

During the procedure, there was always a reassuring human touch, either a hand on my shoulder or comforting words, to remind me that caring people were looking after me. Even with the two separate procedures, the whole thing took less than 20 minutes.

I went home and slept the afternoon away after the procedure. I awoke to 20/15 vision in my left eye with no pain. There was a slight discomfort and some blurring in my right eye after the PRK. However, over the next few weeks and with lots of Vitamin C, the right eye saw clearer each day.

I could not be happier with my results. Go see the doctors and staff at Providence Eye & Laser Specialists. You will be in excellent hands. Then go pick out your new non-prescription sunglasses!!

Quality Excellent

I had Lasik surgery at Providence Eye last December. For anyone considering doing it, I would highly recommend the surgery, Providence Eye and Dr. Mozayeni. I'm in my late 50's, had been wearing contacts and glasses since my mid-20's, and before the surgery had 20-200 vision, afterwards it was between 20-15 and 20-20. I very highly recommend Dr. Mozayeni and his staff.

Dr. Mozayeni and every single person at Providence Eye & Laser Specialists (PELS) are incredibly knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. My husband researched every lasik surgeon in the Charlotte area and PELS came up as #1 each time when we compared them all. Their staff (Alyson) spent as much time as we needed on the phone answering all of our questions (we called them several times and they were so gracious each phone call). The nurse who did several eye tests on me during my consultation taught me more about eyesight than any other doctor's office I've been to (I've worn glasses for 30 years). She was informative, funny, and caring. After my consult, Tori gave us a ton of time to ask any additional questions and found the perfect date for my surgery. She was personal, sweet, and offered us refreshments. From the very first time we called PELS to our initial visit to my lasik surgery and aftercare visits, I am beyond impressed. Dr. Mozayeni personally called me the evening of my surgery to see how I was doing. I highly recommend PELS and their entire team. If you are debating where to go to have lasik, look no further. The procedure was painless and I haven't had one negative side effect ... in fact, I'm seeing 20/15 after being all but legally blind my whole life. My only regret is that I didn't have Dr. Mozayeni and the PELS team do my lasik surgery years ago. They are without a doubt the best!

Samantha - I'm speechless :-) What a wonderfully nice review! Thank you SO much. Feedback from patients like you is why we do what we do every day. It is a pleasure and an honor to help people "see more & live better". I am sure that your review will help people as they research LASIK in the Charlotte area. Thank you especially for naming Allyson & Tori. They are great members of our team and I will be sure to pass this review on to them right away. Thank you again we sincerely appreciate it!

One word - CLASS. This whole operation is all class. Dr. Mozayeni is a wonderful doctor and makes you feel completely comfortable and confident in the procedure. I looked at other places for eye surgery and you didn't even get to meet the surgeon prior to surgery, not to mention the pushy staff and low rent office space. Having that touch point prior to surgery definitely made me feel more comfortable. After the surgery, Dr. Mozayeni personally called me to make sure everything was okay; like I said, all class. The offices, personnel and care were all world class. When choosing an eye care professional, I didn't want to go bargain shopping. I felt that when it came to my eyes, you pay for what you get, and I'm extremely glad I chose Providence Eye & Laser Specialists versus the competition. Ask yourself are you a Neiman Marcus person or a Walmart person? I'm definitely a Neiman man.

I just had my one year check up on 11/12/2014, and this is one of the greatest desicions I have ever made. The team at Providence Eye & Laser Specialists were very professional and were able to answer any questions about the risks involved. They made me feel comfortable from start to finish with a procedure that changed my life forever and for that I am greatful. I will recommend them to anyone interested or who is a canidate in the future.

Let me preface that I went into Providence Eye and Laser with >20/800 vision with an astigmatism and, after surgery, now have ~20/20. Sounds great, right? The problem is the fact that they play down the severity of surgery day (both during and after surgery). I had a friend drive me there (of course) and I expected to be just fine coming out of surgery to function enough to get home and lay down for the recommended post-op nap. However, about 15 minutes after surgery, I had the worst pain I've ever experienced in my life. It was a grueling, shooting pain in my eyes and it was so bad that it made me physically ill. I ended up having my friend (who was driving me home at this point) pull off the side of the road so that I could vomit. No pain medicine was offered in the least. Luckily, I had migraine medication at home that I took to ease the suffering. Again, the surgery is quick, but the aftermath was absolutely terrible. Another point of I'd like to make is that the surgery itself is a bit torturous. There is an apparatus placed on your eye which presses down and guides the first laser in slicing your corneal epithelium. This is, for lack of a better word, freaky. You literally see your vision dissipate and I felt the entire process (which was not pleasant). There's also a burning flesh smell during the entire procedure. If you are an anxious or nervous person, I would recommend a sedative (which they did offer and I regretfully refused because they had previously played down the severity of the procedure so well). I had worn glasses since I was 8 years old and contacts since I was 12. I was perfectly fine with them and never had any issues. However, Providence Eye and Laser Specialists bugged the hell out of me for over a year until I came in for the consultation (which you are expected to make an appointment for the surgery at the end of, by the way). The entire process felt a bit like a giant sales gimmick. Do NOT put your information into their site unless you want to be harassed for months until you finally come in. The surgery is very expensive although it literally takes seconds to perform. I also would like to say that I do not see as well after the surgery as I did prior to surgery with contacts. It's very disappointing and I'm not sure it was worth the thousands of dollars I spent on it.

Colby, Thank you for your detailed review of your experience at Providence Eye & Laser Specialists. We feel that all feedback is constructive in making us a better practice. We are of course thrilled that you have 20/20 vision but our goal is not to just deliver excellent vision but an excellent experience. We are so sorry to hear that you experienced such tremendous pain. After being in practice for 15 years and performing tens of thousands of vision correction procedures we feel that we are very good at setting realistic expectations. Clearly we missed the mark for you. We always accept any requests for either less follow up or no additional follow up. We recognize nothing can change the experience you had. We do hope that going forward for your post-operative care you experience will be more enjoyable. If you have additional concerns please do not hesitate to contact me directly at 704-540-9595 and my name is Kristen.

I've worn glasses since 3rd grade, and contacts since middle school. I was so near-sighted that I really couldn't function without either. PRK was recommended for me due to thin corneas, and while the long term vision correction would be the same as LASIK, the short term meant a longer recovery time with some potential initial discomfort, and slower healing to perfect vision. I was really nervous about the surgery and the discomfort I might have afterwards - but the surgery ended up going so fast and was so easy, and thanks to great eye drops and meds, I never was in much discomfort. I healed exactly how Dr.Mozayeni said I would, and 4 months later, I see more clearly now than I ever did in my contacts. I feel like I'm seeing the world in HD now, where as before, it was low-def! Dr. Mozayeni and his staff are caring, take their time with you, and are so detailed and helpful with the entire process, from consult to post-op. My only regret is that I waited so long to do this; this is hands down the best thing I've ever done for myself.

Have you ever seen that old Bugs Bunny cartoon where he is drafted for the Army and has to read the eye chart? He can read all the way to the bottom (and even where the sign was made)! That is pretty much how it felt for me today at my post op appointment. I have been wearing glasses or contacts since I was about 12 years old and with two small children I started to worry (as moms do) about what I would do in the middle of the night if there was an emergency and I couldn't find my glasses. On top of that trips to the beach or swimming laps (really any activity outside) was kind of a pain when I had to deal with contacts. The staff at Providence Eye & Laser Specialists were more than nice. Lots of joking around which immediately set me right at ease and I am a pretty laid back person. There is no question that went unanswered - most were answered before I even got a chance to ask! My eyes were examined one side up and down the other and then again right before my surgery to make sure the prescription they had written down the previous day was correct. No stone (or eyeball) was left unturned. Many friends I have spoked to who have had it done said it was a breeze and over before I knew it. I think anything to do with the eyes (or dental) can make many quite uneasy. I promise you that you will not regret this decision. Dr. Mozayeni and his staff are so professional and make you feel very comfortable with this decision. Being able to see for the first time in almost 30 years without contacts or glasses (really better than I was able to see with my contacts) is unreal. I almost cannot believe it. You won't either but you will be glad you did it. This is the place to go.

My experience hands down 5 stars! Kristen and Alyson were very helpful leading up to the procedure and kept me informed of all of my appointments. After I met with Dr. Mozayeni I felt very comfortable with the procedure. Tori explained all of the financial information in a clear and informative way and suggested what would be best for me. The entire staff did such a wonderful job making me feel comfortable and educating me about glasses/ contacts and the Lasik. I am now seeing 20/15! I recommend Dr. Mozayeni and his staff to everyone I know considering Lasik. My husband sat with me through all the procedures and he was very impressed as well. Thank you everyone!
