Pouncing through the Snow - Shyla and a Coyote
Shyla couldn't get enough of the snow this weekend. I'm in my February funk but her verve kept me smiling! After every evening hike (snowshoe, really) for the past 5 days, I think that the trails are going to be great for the next day. Then, the wind blows ...
After every evening hike (snowshoe, really) for the past 5 days, I think that the trails are going to be great for the next day. Then, the wind blows all night long, and I head out to find that the trails are covered in snowdrifts. I got so frustrated on Sunday that I took Shyla for a short ...

An Unrivaled Force
The world was a bit frustrating today on a lot of fronts. A great example is that I'd tromped over our trails many times in the past few days using snowshoes. I don't love snowshoeing - it's slow and awkward but it's the best way to make solid paths for tra...

Wordless Wednesday - Snow Joy
P.S. Deep snow is one of the worst things in the world for elbow dysplasia so poor R is sitting out this fun. We haven't managed to move his surgery any sooner than April 1 yet but our vet is still trying.

Snowstorm and a Mountain Lion
So far, our snow storm hasn't lived up to the billing. It's snowed hard at times but it looks to me like we have only 6-8" of new snow. However, our local forecaster says that it will keep snowing overnight and through tomorrow. Shyla and I had a snow bike ...

Silhouette Sunday
We had a brilliant sunset yesterday evening. It was well worth being hiking through the snow to see it from a great vantage point! Happy Sunday.

The Duo's Bond
Shyla plays like a puppy in the snow with me. And then she comes home and snuggles with her brother. Poor R isn't allowed to play in the snow due to his elbow. They melt my heart.

Snowzilla?
Yesterday, I was too quick to to dismiss our snowstorm as over-hyped. While we slept, it dropped almost 2' of snow on our world. Our local weather forecaster had been calling it "Snowzilla" in the days leading up to it. I think that was a good name! I had a...

I saw our a snowstorm arrive yesterday during our evening hike. When I left the house, the wind was howling and visibility was great for a long distance. While we were up on a high plateau, the west wind stopped - just stopped - all at once. After a day of wind, it suddenly seemed so quiet.

I'm avid outdoors person. I love observing nature and playing with my Labs out in the forest.
Introduction
I live at 8200' in the Front Range of Colorado. I love exploring nature in the mountains while riding my mountain bike and romping with my two Labradors. Photography is another passion, including both "normal" photography and trail camera photography of wildlife.

My two dogs are Shyla, a 3-year-old Chocolate Lab, and R, a 7-year-old Black Lab.

I have a blog where I describe my adventures and share my photography: "Romping and Rolling in the Rockies".
