"From the moment we walked into the office, we felt much more at ease. We were so nervous the month leading up to the surgery, but we felt much better immediately upon talking to the staff. Everyone, from the receptionists and to the nurses and doctors, were so kind and made us feel so much better. Everyone was so welcoming! It has been almost one week since the surgery, and I could not be happier! I have dry feet! I have not worn socks since the surgery. I can wear sandals without worries, and I can go to work wearing nice shoes and not constantly fall out of them. I won’t have to buy new shoes every few months because the sweat ruins them. I have been checked up on multiple times since the surgery, and it is really telling of how much the whole office cares. I am so happy I did this surgery." ~ Hallie

Did you know that there are 2 different types of sweat glands in the armpit area?
1. Eccrine glands are responsible for the production of watery and clear sweat that does not produce odor. They are innervated by sympathetic fibers.
2. Apocrine glands are responsible for the production of more of the thick sweat which also is the cause of the odor in the armpits.

Axillary hyperhidrosis ("excessive armpit sweating") involves extreme, dripping sweat in the armpit area. This type of excessive armpit sweating is resistant to all types of deodorants and odor controlling medications.

Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS) is performed on an outpatient basis. The patient is placed under general anesthesia for about one hour – the length of the surgery. Most patients are able to walk out of the medical center within 2 hours after of the surgery. Regular physical activity and return to work are possible in one week or less.
