I have been taking my 2001 Acura TL to Read's Automotive for about 8 years. I've always had superior customer service, especially from Read's owner, Alan. He's always involved in the service process from the time I drop my vehicle off until the time I pick it up. Alan has even followed up with me after maintaining my vehicle to make sure all my service needs were met. How many service centers or even dealerships do you know where the actual owner follows up with you. When I originally purchased my vehicle it had 40k miles on it, my car currently has approx. 240,000 miles. I truly believe that my car has survived this long due to the great service I have received from Read's Automotive over the past several years. I've never felt uncomfortable or pressured into buying any maintenance items I didn't need. I was a Service Advisor for several years so I'm very familiar with how shady the car business can be. Read's has always taken care of me. I am a single mother so not only do I need a dependable vehicle, but I need my repair costs to be reasonable. It's refreshing to know I can trust the staff there!

In comparison to the other reviews here, I must've had a nightmare experience in comparison. This experience was from roughly two years ago. I had a 1992 Buick with some braking issues. The pads were really worn, and the anti-lock brakes were constantly kicking in. I took it here to get those two issues fixed. Later that day I got a call saying something along the lines of "we found your problems, you need new rear rotors, rear brake calipers, and new pads". To which I said great. The work they did totalled to over $1k, and they hadn't even touched the front. I promptly took it back to get re-inspected in Hays County, but it failed the inspection because the foot brake wouldn't hold the car in place (when it previously had). I took it back to Read's and he said "I drove it myself, I tested it myself, this is not a problem.". It was a ridiculous back and forth issue that I did not want to be in the middle of. A few days later on my way to work, bam anti-lock brakes still lock up. Read and I exchanged a few words and he claimed I never even said that was an issue and that it would cost more money for them to even look at it. I will never take another vehicle there again. I've found a much more up-front and honest mechanic just down 290 in Cedar Valley; take your vehicles anywhere but here.

Alan and his crew have been doing routine maintenance (oil & filter, battery, brakes, etc.) on my '92 Ranger since our move to Texas more than six years ago. Over that time, I have never found them to be anything less than honest, friendly, and courteous. They have consistently been very responsive, and have gone out of their way to provide rides, and suggest less-expensive alternatives for repairs on my old truck. They always kept me updated on repair progress when I have to leave the truck for a longer period, and always have rapid turnaround with things like oil changes when I'm waiting. They also have a comfortable waiting area with free WiFi. My trusty pickup keeps chugging along thanks in large part to the regular service and special care it's been getting from Read's Auto.

I've been going to Read's Automotive for over 6 years. They've always been very helpful and honest with me. As a matter of fact, I went in for my sticker inspection. When he pulled up my information in the computer he asked if I was in Hays County (which I am). Read's is in Travis County. It's cheaper to get my inspection done in Hays and they recommended a place. I go to Read's for all my oil changes and check-ups with no issues.

I moved to the Austin area about 2 years ago and a co-worker recommended Read's. Alan is honest and is great to work with. I've taken my car to him for 3 separate repairs and I'll keep returning. Unlike other repair shops I've visited, I've never left his wondering if I've been taken advantage of. He tells me what I really need to take care of immediately and suggests other areas where I might be able to wait a little while. Read's is the only shop in Austin where I'll take my Lexus.

Read's offer great service and reasonable pricing after comparing to other automotive shops in the area and South Austin. Our car repair jobs have been done in a timely manner and staff, including Alan, the owner, offer great customer service. You won't feel pressured into any service repair and they'll gladly show you the car part needing repair in the garage beforehand, unlike other shops (I like to see what's wrong with my car being serviced). The follow up calls ensure great customer service, which is always a plus. Will continue taking our cars to Read's!

I am a single mother and my car is my only trasportation! I need to get a safety inspection so I took my car to Read's Automotive. It turns out that I also needed new brakes and an oil change also. I was a little worried that they were going to be really pushy and tell me that the repairs needed to be done like imediatly. Well, Alan, the owner was so nice, and Scott the service consultant was very helpful. They showed me my brake pads and how worn they really were, (which was kinda scary) and asked if I wanted to schedule an appointment and told me how much my bill would be the next time I came in. I decided that since the price was very reasonable, and a lot less than I expected, I went ahead and had them repair my car! I was very pleased with the process, the work didn't take forever, and they even had a children's play area so my son could play while I had the work done. I would reccomend Read's to all my friends and family.

Tried to change a tire and they said it would take 3and a half hours to get it to the shop and put it on, for a regular Honda tire, took my services to firestone and they had it done in 30 mins on top of being packed on the weekend... This place is trash
